The Saudi Arabia Grand Prix loomed ahead, casting a shadow of apprehension over Charlotte's thoughts. Despite her reluctance to attend, the presence of the Netflix crew at the Red Bull camp left her with no choice but to join her team for the second race of the season.
Dressed in a modest traditional outfit, Charlotte made her way through the paddock, the curious glances of fans and spectators trailing in her wake. She couldn't help but notice Lewis Hamilton's gaze linger on her as he walked past, nearly stumbling in his stride as he stole a glance in her direction.
Her heart ached to speak to him, to clear the air between them, but the presence of her father and the Netflix crew loomed too close for comfort. With a heavy sigh, Charlotte pushed aside her desire and focused on the task at hand.
As the race unfolded, tension hung thick in the air, exacerbated by Max Verstappen's car suffering a DNF in the final laps, sending shockwaves through the Red Bull garage. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton powered to victory, his triumph overshadowed by the chaos unfolding around them.
After the interviews were concluded and the chaos in the garage began to subside, Charlotte seized the opportunity to slip away unnoticed. She found a quiet corner and dialed Lewis' number, her heart pounding in her chest as she waited for him to pick up.
"Hello?" Lewis' voice echoed through the line, warm and welcoming.
"Hi, Lewis, it's Charlotte," she greeted him, her voice tinged with nervousness.
"Hey, Charlotte, it was great seeing you out here today" Lewis replied, his tone genuine.
"Thank you," Charlotte responded, feeling a surge of pride for him. "You were incredible out there."
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line before Lewis spoke again, his tone calm and reassuring. "Thanks, Charlotte. I appreciate it."
"I wanted to talk to you about... about the Max incident. I just want you to know that we're not together, and I'm not seeing anybody," Charlotte continued, her voice gaining confidence as she addressed the topic head-on.
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line before Lewis spoke again, his voice soft. "Charlotte, it's really not my business who you're dating or not dating. You don't have to explain anything to me."
Charlotte felt a wave of relief wash over her at his words, grateful for his understanding. "I know, but I just wanted to make sure you knew," she said, her voice sincere.
There was a moment of understanding between them before Charlotte continued, her voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Lewis. I appreciate your support."
As they said their goodbyes and ended the call, Charlotte couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth spread through her heart. Despite the turmoil of the past weeks, she found solace in the reassurance of their conversation, a glimmer of hope for their future.
