Max's POV:
As Max watched Charlotte and her father share a rare moment of laughter and camaraderie, he felt a pang of guilt gnaw at his conscience. He knew that he should confront Charlotte about her relationship with Lewis, that he owed it to her to demand an explanation for keeping such a significant secret.
But as he saw the genuine smile light up Charlotte's face, a smile that had been absent for far too long, Max found himself hesitating. For the first time in weeks, he saw a glimpse of the carefree, happy Charlotte he had come to know and love, and he couldn't bear to disrupt that fragile peace.
With a heavy sigh, Max made a silent decision to leave the conversation for another time. He knew that confronting Charlotte about her relationship with Lewis would only serve to reignite the tension and conflict that had plagued them in recent days, and he didn't want to risk undoing the progress they had made.
Instead, he chose to focus on the present moment, relishing in the warmth of their shared laughter and the sense of unity that filled the room. As Charlotte and her father exchanged stories and reminisced about happier times, Max couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope for their future.
And as he made his excuses to leave, promising to check in on them again soon, Max couldn't shake the feeling that, despite the secrets and betrayals that lingered beneath the surface, there was still hope for healing and reconciliation. And for now, that was enough to sustain him as he navigated the uncertain waters of their complicated relationships.
