Following Lewis' call, Charlotte headed to Monaco. As she arrived at the airport, paparazzi hounded her with questions about her father's recent trip to Spain. They bombarded her with inquiries about whether they were talking to each other, making her feel even more uncomfortable. Overhearing their comments about her recent Calvin Klein shoot, she cringed at their misogyny and vulgar remarks. Ignoring their offensive comments, she let security escort her through the airport quickly.
Sitting in first class, she felt the stares of the fellow passengers. But she remembered Lewis' advice to ignore them, and that's exactly what she did.
Upon arrival, Charlotte was surprised to see Anthony Hamilton, Lewis' father, waiting for her. She walked over to him and embraced him warmly.
"Mr. Hamilton, it's so lovely to see you. I didn't realise I would have the pleasure of seeing you. How are you doing?" Charlotte greeted him kindly.
He smiled back. "Please, call me Anthony. Come on, we'll talk more once we get to Lewis'. Too many eavesdroppers around here," he said with a cheeky grin, and Charlotte smirked at his comment, noting the resemblance to Lewis.
Arriving at Lewis' apartment, Lewis greeted them both warmly. He then took Charlotte's hand and said, "I am so sorry, love, for all of this. You deserve a break from all that crap. The race is, of course, this weekend, and you know I love having you around on the racetrack, but if you feel it's going to be too much, then please feel free to stay here. I'm lucky enough to spend any time with you as much as I can."
Charlotte melted at his words, feeling grateful for his understanding. As they settled in the kitchen, Anthony addressed Charlotte.
"Charlotte, I hope you don't mind, but Lewis told me about everything that's been going on with your father. If you ask me, it's disgusting to treat your own child like that. I don't mean to pry, but have you spoken to him since?" Anthony asked with genuine concern.
Charlotte smiled politely at Anthony before shaking her head. "We haven't spoken, no. I spoke to my mum a little bit, but her response to everything is that it needs time. She always takes my Dad's side, so there hasn't been much family contact," she explained, her distress evident on her face.
Lewis squeezed her hand reassuringly, silently offering his support. He then asked, "And Max? Have you heard from him?"
"Radio silence from him too," Charlotte admitted, feeling a pang of sadness at the thought of their fractured relationship.
Just as the conversation turned to Max, her phone buzzed with a text from him. "You in Monaco? Let's talk."
Charlotte's heart skipped a beat as she read the message, unsure of what Max wanted to discuss. She looked up at Lewis and Anthony, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside her.
