Max's POV:
Max turned his phone on silent, planting a kiss on Charlotte's head before making his way back to the pool. As he walked, his mind buzzed with thoughts of what almost happened between them. He couldn't deny the passion he felt, but he respected Charlotte's wishes and knew he had to tread carefully.

Max had once seen her as nothing more than a friend, but now his mind couldn't help but entertain the possibility of something more. Yet, he couldn't shake the jealousy that gnawed at him, knowing she still harboured feelings for Lewis.

As he reached for his phone, a message from Daniel caught his attention: "You are crazy sending that wtf." Confused, Max furrowed his brow, wondering what Daniel meant. Before he could respond, Lewis' name flashed across his screen.

Answering the phone, Max was met with Lewis' raised voice. "You are a fucking asshole, you know that," Lewis spat.

Taken aback, Max retorted, "What the fuck is your problem?"

Lewis' voice dripped with fury as he fired back, "My problem? You're really asking what's my problem?"

"Yeah, I am asking what's your problem," Max shot back, frustration bubbling within him.

A stunned silence hung over the line before Lewis continued, his anger palpable. "You know Charlotte thinks the world of you. She always says you are the person she can go to for anything. And you repay her by sending everyone a picture of her in a swimsuit, you shirtless, and the two of you in bed. And being disgusting, asking for a different ending. It doesn't take a genius to put two and two together. So yeah, that makes you an asshole to send that shit to the whole grid. What are you trying to get people to think of her? Charlotte deserves more than that."

Max cursed himself internally, realising his mistake as he checked his phone and saw the photo and caption was sent to the drivers' group chat. Though he wanted to explain himself, his anger toward Lewis clouded his judgment.

Through gritted teeth, Max retorted, "This may surprise you, but whatever Lottie does is nothing to do with you. You made that perfectly clear to her by breaking up with her. And you're talking to me about pictures when you've been out with the model and you were in bed with her."

Lewis quickly interjected, explaining that the photo in bed was for a Tommy Hilfiger shoot.

Max glanced around, ensuring Charlotte wasn't within earshot before responding. "I didn't mean to send it to everyone," he admitted. However, his newfound confidence laced his lie as he continued. "That picture was meant for you. For you to know you fucked up throwing her to the side."

Lewis scoffed dismissively and hung up the phone, leaving Max to grapple with the weight of his actions. Deleting the photo from the group chat, Max buried his head in his hands, convincing himself that what Charlotte didn't know couldn't hurt her.
