Charlotte woke up with a pounding headache, surrounded by empty shot glasses strewn across her room. She rubbed her temples, trying to piece together the events of the previous night, only to be startled when she saw Lewis and Max both asleep on her floor.
A knock on the door jolted her from her thoughts, and she hurriedly opened it, trying to shield the room from view.
"Boys! What are you doing here?" she exclaimed, her confusion evident as she faced Pierre, Charles, and Daniel in the hallway.
The three boys exchanged amused glances before Daniel spoke up, struggling to contain his laughter. "You don't remember your text to us yesterday? You sent a message in our group chat."
Charlotte furrowed her brow, unable to recall sending any message. Daniel attempted to read it out loud, but his laughter got the best of him. Charles and Pierre took turns trying, their amusement only growing.
Finally, Pierre managed to read it through his laughter, exaggerating the misspelled words as he went. "Helllo my lovely boyysss. Tomorrow mornin pleazzz come overrr to my room. I've already got 2 drivers here. Max had no shirt on be4. Nothin weird tho happenin. Plz bring me sum coffee and we can all hang out. 5 boys and me. Again no funny business. Love Charlotte xoxoxo."
Charlotte's face flushed crimson as she listened to her embarrassing message being recited.
As the laughter died down, Charles quipped, "Who's the other boy? You said Max was there, but who is the other person?"
Before Charlotte could respond, Daniel announced, "We were invited to join the party, so let's go and check it out."
Charlotte tried to stop him, but Daniel's laughter-filled determination prevailed, dragging Pierre and Charles along with him into the room.
The sudden noise woke Lewis and Max, who looked disoriented and sheepish as they glanced around the room.
Daniel greeted them with a laugh, "Good morning. Did you two have a nice sleepover?"
Another knock on the door interrupted their banter, and Charlotte panicked. She motioned for the drivers to hide in the bathroom as she checked through the door's peephole.
Seeing her father on the other side, she plastered on a fake smile as she greeted him. She averted his gaze, feeling guilty as he surveyed the messy room.
Her father's expression was unreadable as he informed her about her changed flight schedule. With a final admonition to clean up and sober up, he left.
Once alone again, Lewis broke the silence, "Well, you heard the man. Let's clean this up."
Grateful for his help, Charlotte joined them in tidying the room before rushing to the airport. She wore large sunglasses to conceal her disheveled appearance from the photographers.
As she settled into her seat on the plane, Charlotte couldn't shake the nagging worry about maintaining her relationships with Max and Lewis. She wondered if it was even possible for them to be friends while navigating their complicated history.
