The soft glow of her phone illuminated the darkness of Charlotte's bedroom as she stirred awake, her sleep interrupted by the incessant buzzing of text messages. Groaning softly, she reached for her phone and blinked blearily at the screen.

Her heart sank as she read through the flood of messages from friends and acquaintances, each one accompanied by a link to various articles claiming that she and Max were the newest item in the Formula 1 world. Pictures of them together at the party adorned the headlines, accompanied by speculative tales of stargazing escapades and budding romance.

Embarrassment flooded through Charlotte as she scrolled through the articles. She had never been the subject of such intense media scrutiny before, and the thought of her personal life being dissected for public consumption made her cringe.

With a sigh, she dialed Max's number, her fingers trembling slightly as she waited for him to pick up. When he answered, his voice was warm and reassuring, instantly calming her frayed nerves.

"Hey, Lottie, what's up?" he greeted her, his tone lighthearted.

Charlotte couldn't help but feel a wave of relief wash over her at his casual demeanor. "Max, I'm so sorry about all this," she apologized, her voice tinged with embarrassment. "I can't believe the media is making up all these stories."

Max laughed down the phone, his laughter contagious even through the line. "Don't worry about it, Lottie," he reassured her. "It's just the media being their usual dramatic selves. I bet Christian probably paid for those articles himself."

Charlotte couldn't help but laugh at his joke, the tension in her shoulders easing slightly. But the question lingered in the back of her mind, a nagging itch she couldn't shake.

Deciding to take matters into their own hands, Max and Charlotte concocted a plan to poke fun at the rumors. They each posted a photo on Instagram, showing themselves alone in their empty beds, accompanied by the caption: "Where's my hot date to stargaze with #dontbelievewhatyouread."

The response was immediate, with their posts garnering a flurry of interactions and comments from fans and followers joining in on the joke. But as Charlotte scrolled through the notifications, she noticed a glaring absence – Lewis hadn't liked or commented on the post.

A pang of disappointment washed over her as she wondered if Lewis believed the rumors, if he thought she and Max were actually dating. And as she lay in bed, the soft glow of her phone casting shadows across her face, she couldn't shake off the uneasy feeling that lingered in her heart.
