He was so calm and happy that I had never seen him look so peaceful. It was like his smile was spreading Zen into the world. My dad opened a picnic basket and gave me his favorite mushroom cheese sandwich. Up above, the sky spread out its beautiful colors; birds fluttered and cavorted in their aerial dances with perfect grace. Each touch of the cool breeze on my skin felt like a confirmation of life itself, and the sound of the waves breaking added an indescribable joy to the moment.

Dad and I were enjoying we sat on the edge of a cliff overlooking the water and watched the most beautiful morning. As I tried to pay attention to what he was saying, I couldn't hear his voice for some reason, but all the other sounds around me were perfectly audible.

Then came a thunder that broke the peace, and the beautiful blue sky became fearful darkness. The earth started shaking. I was scared when I saw my dad fell from the cliff upside down into the sea, which was so rough. I wasn't sure if it was the cliff falling or earthquake. I screamed from the depths of my being and ran toward him, only to see him being sucked into the cruel waves.

I cried bitterly, like a canary without its nest, because I was overwhelmed by the gut-wrenching knowing that I had once again lost something very important in my life. Then, just as quickly as the nightmare ended, I woke up, soaked in cold sweat from fear, and thankful to be back in real life.

It was 6 a.m. I laced up my trusty white runners with a pink cropped top and my running shorts. With my headphones on, I stormed out.

After thirty minutes of running, I found a moment of peace while sitting on a bench by the side of the road. The cool morning air calmed my racing thoughts. I suddenly felt uneasy due to several people around me. I decided to go back.

While I was walking home, I caught a glimpse of Kev across the street, dressed in a khaki and black tracksuit. While he was talking, his charming smile and carefree attitude held me spellbound, and I noticed that he was casually running his hand through his hair. I wanted to slam my lips against his and wrap my arms around his neck. For a moment, I felt bad that I had pushed him away when we kissed in my bathroom.

When our eyes locked in a hypnotic link, I suddenly realized that Kev Moller was the one who had me captivated and pulled me out of the real world. At that time, I couldn't take my eyes off him because he was so attractive.

He raised an eyebrow in a way that seemed to ask a question. I answered him with a light shake of the head. I pointed at his watch. I understood what he meant so I nodded and ran into my building. It was kind of weird we actually communicated in sign language standing across the road. Although we both know nothing about the sign language. Maybe we still understand each other so well.

As soon as I entered, Kev swept out of my mind when the sound of vessels echoed through the air, giving me chills. Where was Goldie? Usually, he'd be running excitedly toward me. Still, the hall stayed eerily empty, I was scared and desperately looked for something to protect myself with.

Then my eyes fell on a vase that was on the front table. Without thinking, I grabbed it and moved quickly on my toes, ready to face an intruder who was hiding in my kitchen. But when I turned the corner and was about to strike, Mrs. Ryan. I quickly stopped myself hitting her head.

Mrs. Ryan was taken aback she raised her hands and screamed. "What are you doing?"

"I thought someone broke in." I kept the vase on island.

As she hugged me, I felt so much better, and Goldie's excited woofing filled the room. "Yeah, I see her now," I told him to calm down.

"But you and Mr. Ryan were coming next week," I said.

"I was missing you and Goldie," she told him.

Getting down on the stool. "Come on, you could have spent one more week with Sawyer,"

"The kitchen is surprisingly neat and clean; how did you manage to do that?" she wanted to know.

I laughed softly. "Simply because I didn't enter the kitchen while you were gone for two weeks."

When Mrs. Ryan walked into my room. "Oh my God, did a tornado hit this place with shoes and clothes?"

Not wanting to answer her, I got ready and stormed out of my house. I saw Kev using his phone while leaning against his car.

It's strange, but all of a sudden, I can't stop thinking about every single thing about him. For example, the way his white shirt and blue vest hug him perfectly. He opened the door for me when he saw me and asked. "Tappa Italiana?"

I nodded.

A guy is already waiting for me. He gave me two coffee cups; I asked which was sugarless, and we headed to Moller Holdings.

On the way, I looked at Kev three times but didn't speak. Kev answered after my third attempt.

Kev tilted his head. "I'd take it, but it would be nice if you offered first."

I looked at him and gave him coffee. He placed it in the cup holder.

"You still remember I don't like sugar in my coffee," Kev asked.

Just nodded. Although I couldn't understand why I couldn't talk. He makes me flinch between my thighs, so I avoid looking at him.

As soon as I walked onto my floor, Gretchen asked, "So we're set for Saturday?"

I pointed at her while winking. "Yes, at Galaxy Sharp 8."

Blaine came over to me as soon as I turned on my laptop. Mar, check your email. I sent you a few drafts."

I smiled. "Good morning to you too, Blaine! And yes, I will look into it."

Blaine raised his brow. "What is the reason for this cheerful attitude?"

I cleared my throat. "You know, it would be nice if you start your mornings with greeting."

Blaine muttered. "Definitely hiding something." and then he walked out of my office.

When my phone rang, I looked down and saw Aurora's name flashing on the screen. I glanced at the time and it was 2:15 p.m. I grabbed my wallet and phone, then stormed out of my office. I was in such a hurry that I didn't see Kev standing in front of me until it was too late. I ran into him again, and once again we were face-to-face. This time, my cheeks were red from being embarrassed, and he hadn't said anything rude yet. I stammered, "I.... I'm soo sorrrry!"

He had a cute smile on his face. "No worries."

I felt a shock of electricity run through me when his hands brushed my arms. Our eyes met again, and I felt that same spark ignite, but it was doused when my phone rang, and I had to pull away from him.
