One Year Later

In all my life, I have missed something. When I was a kid, I had a dad and best friend; when I was in my teens, I had my mom and dad but lost the love of my life. It's been a wonderful year. I have the love of my life. I am on good terms with both parents. I am heading in the right direction in terms of business.

Now I am standing with my dad, waiting for everyone to be seated. The officiant for the ceremony arrived. Meredith sprinkled flower petals all the way down the aisle. Because Sawyer was my best man and Aurora was Mar's bridesmaid.

Sawyer and Aurora went down the aisle and then stood to the side of the officiant. Now it's my turn to walk down the aisle. I know Margot is watching me from the above window with Blake.

According to everyone, I shouldn't look at Margot before the vows but I don't believe in this crap. I was standing with my best man, Sawyer, waiting for Margot to walk down the aisle. No one had let me see her since morning and it was killing me. The moment my eyes fell on Margot, a rush of relief coursed through me.

I saw a hair comb on her veil, which mom showed me last night as she wanted to gift Margot. It was Margot's mom, who gave it as a gift to my mom at her wedding and my mom thinks now Margot has a right to have her mom's heirloom. Margot is looking gorgeous in her white gown, the fabric hugged her perfectly and its flowy part is my favorite.

Her split skirt is perfectly gracing her body and I can see the amount of discomfort in her body due to the heels she is wearing. I wanted to take off her heels. I was craving to kiss her now, eagerly waiting for the completion of the vows.

I was reminding myself to respect the tradition and rituals, as she wanted to have a perfect summer wedding.

Mar was holding her bouquet, perfectly coordinated with the decorations that adorned the lawn of our beach house. Mar was so meticulous with all the color schemes and decorations. I looked around and felt nostalgic that never in our wildest dreams, did we imagine that we would be standing here exchanging vows on the same grass where we had spent countless hours of our childhood playing and laughing.

As Mar approached the altar, Aurora, being a very helpful bridesmaid, took her bouquet, allowing Mar and I to clasp hands as we prepared to exchange our vows.

The officiant commanded everyone to take a seat before continuing.

"On this, such a beautiful day, all of us have gathered here to be witnesses to the marriage of Kev and Margot," the officiant stated. Because they have written their own vows, we will now let the man and the woman say their own vows.

Margot cleared her throat. "Kev Moller, I have known you for as long as I can remember, and I simply cannot envision a scenario in which I would have to go through even a single second of my life without you. You are my friend, boyfriend, enemy, the love of my life, and everything. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I can't live a second without you. I promise I will never let go of this spark between us."

I stepped forward and wiped the tears rolled down her cheeks. she looked at me and nodded.

I took out the paper from my jacket. "I have loved you since the very beginning, Margot Parker, regardless of whether it was on purpose or by accident, and I promise that I will continue to love you even more for the rest of my life. Because you are the most important component of who I am, I find it reassuring to fall asleep with my arms around you every night. Today is the day when we will legally join our lives together as husband and wife, but we have been and will continue to be the closest of friends."

The officiant asked, "Could we, please, have the wedding rings?"

Damien, who is four years old and is Sawyer and Valerie's son, served as our ring bearer. He walked forward and handed each of us our individual rings, and then we put the bands on each other's fingers.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the officiant stated

After a brief embrace, Mar and I kissed, and then everyone stood up and applauded for us. Aurora handed back Mar's bouquet, and then Mar and I walked down the aisle as husband and wife, surrounded by a shower of petals. And after the walk, we met everyone, and they all congratulated us, and we found out that Ian and Renna were now engaged.

As the music started for our first dance as husband and wife, I felt a rush of joy and excitement. Everyone soon joined us on the dance floor. Mar gasped.

"What happened?" I asked.

Mar shook her head, her gaze fixed on Justine and Alyssa dancing peacefully together. "I'm shocked to see them dancing in peace. Maybe it's a truce for the day; they can't seem to go without fighting each other."

Glancing around, I noticed other couples dancing joyfully—Ian with Renna, Carter with Aspin, Aurora with Ivan, and even Mom with David. It felt like a surreal moment as if the universe was showering its love on our wedding day.

After our first dance, Mar danced with my dad, and I took the floor with my mom. Everyone is enjoying the loving atmosphere and celebrating our happiness with us.

We cut the cake and then, as per tradition, we ate the first bite together. Later, I raised a toast during dinner and expressed my gratitude to everyone. After the cheers, Margot put the glass down on the table.

I asked her. "Why are you not drinking?"

Margot shook her head. "I am perfectly fine. I don't want to drink on an empty stomach."

I was about to raise my spoon towards Margot's mouth and Aurora came and took her away for one more tradition. I was sitting there, watching all the girls gathered at one spot. Aurora asked Margot to throw her bouquet at them.

I asked Mom about the ritual, and she told me whoever caught the bouquet would get married soon. I chuckled and wondered who would catch the bouquet. Margot turned around and threw the bouquet back at girls.

To my surprise, Renna caught it, and everyone was woohooing at her and Ian. My eyes landed on Jenna, she is Renna's younger sister, and I bet she is not good news. I saw a smile vanish from Renn's face as she saw her sister, but I stood with Margot as I saw Ian already standing with Renna.
