I wanted to go after Mar when she stormed out of my room with her stomping feet. I wanted to tell the truth and fix everything but the stubborn part of me has stopped going after her. One thing is for sure Margot knows and that is how to get a rise of me. I have been shutting off all my emotions for years and now it's getting difficult to take them out.

As I paced the room, I couldn't shake the feeling that I had failed Margot yet again. Regardless of my best intentions. With a heavy sigh, I ran my hand through my hair. As I looked at the door Mar had rushed out of, I realized our conversation was far from done.

The next morning, I waited for Mar at breakfast. Glancing at the time, I decided that if she didn't come down in the next five minutes, I would call her. While conversing with one of my dad's oldest business associates, who was inquiring about his health, my attention was drawn to a girl. The dress she was wearing barely reached her upper thighs, and when my eyes reached her feet, she was wearing flats. I closed my eyes and said whatever prayer I could remember, "Please God, she can't be the one I'm thinking about," and when I opened my eyes, there she was, Mar in her teeny tiny clothes. I groaned, stepped over to her, grabbed her arm, and led her to a corner of the hall.

I inquired. "What on earth are you wearing?"

Margot was filled with confusion. "Excuse me?"

I inquired. "Why do you always wear dresses that are barely reached your thighs?"

Margot gritted her teeth. "And why on earth should my clothes bother you?"

I pointed at her. "Because these clothes are not the going-out ones."

Margot asked. "Why is this any of your business?"

I looked around and almost whispered. "Because I don't want anyone to think of you the way I do when I see your bare skin."

Margot asked. "I'm curious to know how your friendship turned into animosity and ultimately grew into possessiveness over a decade."

I released her arm and lifted mine in air like surrender. "After the event, I will take you to a place where you'll get all the answers you seek."

Margot replied. "I am not going anywhere with you."

I moved closer to her and whispered in her ear. "Tonight, after the event." As I walked away, she called out to me. I glanced back and playfully winked.

As I exited the hall, I bumped into Sawyer. He inquired about where I was heading, so I quickly informed him that I was going to the beach house. Without any further explanation, I hurried out, feeling the need to be alone and sort out my thoughts.

Spending almost the entire day at the beach house, I meticulously checked that everything was ready for Mar.

I reached the auditorium in last minutes when the event was about to start. I noticed everyone was looking up at the staircase. I also looked up to see what is happening there. I couldn't help but shake my head in disbelief. Is Margot Parker wearing heels? That's something new. At first, I wasn't sure if she needed a hand in descending the stairs. However, she confidently tucked her hands into her skirt's pocket and descended with the grace of a seasoned professional.

Margot asked. "Where were you?"

I couldn't help but smirk. "Did you miss me?"

Margot expressed her frustration. "You are Dane Moller's son, not me. We are here on behalf of Moller Holdings. Everyone had been looking for you."

I tilted my head. "I had something much more important that required my attention."

The event officially commenced once everyone had made their most significant donations. Moller Holdings generously contributed one million dollars to the charity. As the fundraising campaign was nearing its end, Mar excused herself and left the room. After a brief absence, she returned wearing her signature clothes, swapping her skirt and heels for shorts and sneakers.
