"We will take a short 25-minute break." the judge said before standing up and leaves the courtroom.
Jake sighs, feeling the tension heavy in the air before standing up from his seat and leaves to the bathroom, mumbling words to himself about the trial.
"I was told that I would get money...he would definitely pay me."
"He?...Could you tell us who it is?"
The statements playing over and over repeatedly as if it was a broken radio echoing in his mind before slamming his hand onto the sink in frustration.
"Fuck it, it's Johnny..." he mumbles before splashing some water onto his face and sighs breathing heavily to calm down before drying his face and then leaves the bathroom.
"Jake?" Y/N calls out to him before going over to him with a takeaway cup of coffee.
He turns around to see her come over and smiles.
"Ah, Y/N...we need to discuss the trial. Let's go sit down somewhere. Oh, and thanks for the coffee." he said before playfully snatching it off of her hands and walks off while sipping on the hot beverage.
"W-what? S-sure...what did you want to discuss about?" she said starstruck from the sudden gesture before following behind him and then goes to sit on one of the chairs at the cafeteria.
"It's about the witness, we got Mr Kim's son. Do you think he would be enough to prove whether Kim Seongkyu is innocent?"
"'Innocent'? How can you be so sure Jake? All the evidence points to him as the convict. Plus he has a record for drunk driving." she says while crossing her leg and taps her pen on the table.
"Well, I think the CCTV footage has been tampered with..." Jake replied while inserting his hand into his blazer pocket before sliding over to her a USB stick. "And it's clear that Johnny Martinez is actually responsible for the murder of Park Daeseong, he literally has a history with him. Isn't that what Jay told you?"
"Wait- Johnny- where did you get this from?" she asked shocked before plugging it into her laptop and watches the CCTV video.
"I just found it in a letter from the post this morning. I think its crucial evidence. Plus, Johnny is going to testify and confess."
"He is? But he's not on the witness list."
"That is why I'm going to request him to the judge."

"Attorney Sim, you may start to question the defendant."
Jake stands up before grabbing his documents and walks over to the middle of the courtroom.
"Yes, your honour." he replies before turning over to the defendant.
"Kim Seongkyu, previously you mentioned that you did the hit-and-run in order to get money. why couldn't you just get a loan instead?"
Mr Kim sighs before replying.
"I already took out so many loans from the bank, but...b-but..." he starts to stutter.
"But what?" he asked curiously. "you decided to engage yourself with loan sharks?"
"No! But the money I was going to get paid sounded more tempting...I had no choice, I heard that if I didn't pay my debt back...I would get killed." Seongkyu pleaded.
