The rain pounded against the pavement like a relentless drumbeat, drowning out any semblance of normalcy. Y/N's chest heaved with each desperate breath as she fled from her mum's apartment, her mind consumed by the horrifying act she had just committed. She didn't dare look back, as she couldn't bear to face the reality of what she had done.

Her shoes splashed through puddles, her clothes clinging to her skin as she ran, the cold sting of the rain a cruel reminder of the chaos she had unleashed. With every step, her resolve hardened, her only thought a single sentence: I can only rely on Jake now...there's no way I can convince Gyuvin to forgive me.

She knew she had to reach him, although she's unsure whether he will accept what she had done but he was her only hope left, hoping he would be the light to her misery. According to Y/N, he was the only one that could fully understand her, the only one who could offer the comfort she desperately needed and craved for while she feels herself devour in the feelings of guilt and anguish. So she ran, each raindrop mixing with her tears as she ran over to Jake's apartment, the longing of assurance that everything is going to be okay.

Even if it doesn't end up okay, she still had to endure the unforgivable sin that will haunt her forever.

Knocking on the door desperately, Y/N breathed heavily, trying to bottle up her feelings while trying to calm down. She repeatedly rang the doorbell, praying Jake would open the door before anyone else could see her covered in her mother's blood and clothes clinging to her as if it was a reminder of her guilt, she wished this was all a bad dream, a bad dream that she would wake up from and never experience it again.

But it wasn't a dream.

It wasn't a nightmare.

It was reality.

She experienced it firsthand.

And she was the one who committed it.

Suddenly the door opened to reveal a half-asleep Jake, his dishevelled hair all messy and puffy face betraying his sleepiness. His expression shifted to surprise upon seeing Y/N standing before him, drenched and bloodstained, her presence catching him off guard.

"Y/N? What are you doing here? What happened to you? It's 2am..." he said, his voice etched with genuine concern rather than sleepiness.

"C-Can I come in? P-Please...? I'll t-try to explain e-everything" she said, starting to shiver from the wet clothes engulfing her cold body.

Concerned but confused, Jake allowed her inside and immediately took her to his bedroom and starts to rummage through his wardrobe for some clothes for her to wear.

With a blanket around her shivering body, Y/N watches him quietly, thinking how she's going to start the conversation and how he's going to react.

"You okay?" he interrupted her from her train of thoughts while holding out an oversized t-shirt and trousers.

She shrugged, not knowing what to say before grabbing the clothes from his hands and sighs before mumbling.

"I don't know...I don't know what's going to happen to me now and-" she started to speak before feeling his hand start to ruffle her hair.

"Go and have a shower first then we can chat about whatever happened..." Jake replies calmly, a gentle smile on his face knowing that she needs some reassurance.

30 minutes later, Y/N came out of the bathroom to be faced with a plate with croissants, a few of her favourite snacks and a mug of hot chocolate.

"I know something terrible probably happened...so I just wanted to cheer you up a bit with these." Jake said before patting the blanket to indicate her to sit down.

Sighing, Y/N sat down beside him and starts to sip on the hot chocolate before taking a bite of the croissant.

Watching her closely, Jake could sense that something happened, as her eyes were bloodshot and dried tears on her cheeks.

"So, care to explain what happened?" he asked gently, not wanting to intimidate her harshly.

She then looked at him, feeling broken and lost inside, as if she was a child who lost her way in a dark forest, unsure of how to navigate the tangled thicket of her emotions.

"I... I couldn't stay there anymore," she began, her voice barely above a whisper, choked with emotion.

"I had to leave... I had to get away." her words trailed off, her gaze dropping to the floor as she struggled to find the strength to continue.

Jake started rubbing her back calmly, watching her carefully as if she was a fragile ornament.

"Take your time, no rush..." he mumbles.

"I... I killed my mum..." Y/N whispers, tears slowly threatening to spill from her eyes.

Widening his eyes, Jake looked at her in disbelief, not knowing how to react before replying,

"You- you killed your mum-? Why? Is it because of earlier with your father's possessions?"

She shakes her head, vulnerability clearly shown in her current state before continuing to explain the situation.

"No... she started saying how everything is my fault, how my father's death was my fault just because of something that happened back in school which caused him to stay back from work late... and she kept comparing me to my brother by saying how he's better than me and I was just an unwanted child... and Gyuvin disowned me..." she explained to him carefully, while wiping her tears from her face again.

Listening attentively, Jake sighs before picking up a snack and eats it before replying.

"Y/N," he started, his tone filled with empathy as he lightly pats her back.

"Just because she compared you to your brother does not mean it's true. You're not responsible for your father's death, and you are far from being an unwanted child, and it's alright, we can try to convince Gyuvin after resolving this situation." he reassured her, his voice soft but firm.

"How do you know if I'm not responsible for my father's death? You don't even know him or my situation properly. And you know I suffer from anger issues as well." she interrupted him, confusion written on her face.

He lightly chuckles, finding it slightly amusing.

"Cute..." he mumbles quietly to himself before turning back to her.

"Y/N, I know your father way more than you think..." he reveals, a small smile on his face.

"What...? You do?"

He nods, before ruffling her hair again.

"A few years ago, before your father got killed."
