~ SIMRAN ~
Agonizing, it was all so much to bear that I couldn't even breathe properly, my eyes were blurry not even caring that the sun was basking inside my room directly from the open window which only indicates that I made it through to morning despite my despair. It was all shiny unlike me as I was still cradling my knees together while burying my face in between them, my body pressed more intimately against the corner of the wall that I just wanted to perish in thin air but I am not a coward, I have to fight for everything, especially for a happy life.
It broke me immensely when I saw tears in his eyes.
He cried because of me. I hurt him, I badly did and I know I deserved what happened yesterday but at the same time I want to ask my fate, did I truly deserve this pain, suffering, and despair, do I honestly deserve it all? I have been suffering too, I am the victim of circumstances too, and I have died every day to get to be with him but my efforts always went in vain.
"Mumma".
I instantly wiped my tears, looking up as she wobbled inside through the door wearing large shoes in her tiny feet. I can't help but smile forgetting about everything after noticing how happy she is right now, my eyes immediately moved to the door where my adorable brother-in-law was leaning and admiring her just like me.
"Look, Uncle Venice's shoes fit me. Aren't they amazing? Also, he's freaking awesome and too handsome for this world"
I blinked at her as for the first time she was behaving like a kid, it was quite abnormal for her but at the same time, I liked it. Looks like we have another fan of Venice here.
"Yeah, very but why are you wearing them," I asked as Venice strolled inside, his eyes moving around the room then paused at me.
She smiled, "Because I like them just like him".
She rushes to him and hugs his knees as if knows him for years, it's strange since she doesn't mix with strangers much, the next she was in the air and in his arms where she giggled like a cute baby.
"I like you too, my majesty".
He kissed her forehead and eyed me a little concerned.
Did he hear all that yesterday? I bet he did...
"Venice, would you like to go to a party?" I flipped the subject before he could ask me anything
His eyes glisten like stars in the sky, even after growing up, he is still a kid.
"I will get ready and pick you up".
I shook my head and just sent him the address.
"You are going to meet me there okay".
He nodded as both of them left and I ended up gathering my remaining courage to go through today knowing now life is going to test me more and more whether I whine or cry, it won't matter.
I need to stay stronger for my daughter and myself.
After a short ride, I was inside the hospital and in my brother's room where he was still oblivious to his surroundings, his body was so pale just like his colorless face. My eyes just filled with tears as I placed the plate I readied with sweets, rakhi, Roli, and rice grains.
{ Rakhi: An ornamental wristband given during the Indian festival of Raksha Bandhan as an amulet or token of respect and affection, typically by a woman or girl to her brother or a man that she regards as a brother.
Roli: Roli, which is made from turmeric and slaked lime, symbolizes devotion, femininity, & spirituality and serves the purpose of every Pooja. }
Gripping my unstable emotions together I applied tilak on his forehead with Roli by watering it a little and tied the rakhi around his wrist as every year I do since he is bedridden but I still remember how before he used to pamper me on this day, the irony is that he used to spoil me every day, he didn't need a festive to do that for me.
