Draco met me at the bottom of the grand staircase.
"Wow," He whispered.
I smiled and blushed lightly...which was weird, because I never blush.
"You look nice," I told him.
"You...wow," He replied.
"Alright, no time for dilly-dallying," Professor McGonagall said, walking through us, something I figured wasn't an accident.
"Champions, line up with your partners. You will walk into the great hall and continue on to have a dance. The rest of the attendees will follow suit after the first song."
I nodded and lined up behind Fleur and in front of Cedric. He gave me almost an amused look.
"Potter and Malfoy? Attending a ball together? That's something I never thought I'd see."
"Shove off, Diggory," I mumbled.
It's not that I didn't like Cedric.
He was just, well...
Annoying.
"Feisty today, are we?" He laughed, "I figured you'd be here with Weasley."
"Ced, that's enough," Cho said quietly.
"It's none of your business who she's here with," Fleur said from in front of her. I was shocked she stood up for me. I didn't think she liked me that much.
That shut him up.
Good timing, too, the doors opened and Krum walked with Hermione through the door and down into the Great Hall.
The decorations were breathtaking. All around me was snow white banners, tablecloths, and napkins. It felt like a different world compared to the corridor I just left.
As we walked, I noticed people standing up the sides of the aisle we walked. Ron was looking at me with some sort of kicked puppy look, Harry was trying very hard to look happy, George clapped politely, though Angelina wasn't looking too thrilled. Fred pretended not to look at me. I pretended not to care.
The dance started, and some sort of butterflies erupted in my stomach when Draco placed his hands on my waist.
The music started and we waltzed. I was paying more attention to not falling than looking at him.
"Nice party, huh?" He said softly.
I nodded in return, trying to watch my step.
"How about this. I lead, you follow. You clearly have two left feet."
I laughed quietly and nodded, "Sounds good to me."
We danced for awhile in silence. Letting him lead was much easier than trying to figure it out on my own. I'm not much for dancing, but for him I did.
He was shorter than Fred, not as muscular either.
Why was I comparing the two? I was here with Draco. Not Fred.
The song came to an end and we broke apart.
"Do you mind if I go and sit with my friends for a bit?"
"Oh, yeah," I replied, "No problem."
"Great," he smiled, "Thanks Hens."
I went and sat at a table near Ron and Harry, eager to let my feet rest. I hate heels.
"You look really nice, Hensley," A voice said from behind me.
"Thank you Neville," I smiled, "You do as well!"
