Cindy felt completely awkward when the two of them finally had gotten home. Ja'far had made damn sure that she knew just who was in charge of the two of them. Cindy ended up rushing straight to her room to change her clothes and clean herself which amused Ja'far as he came in minutes after Cindy had. Natsu looked confused as he saw Ja'far come in.
"So...what the hell did I just see?"
"Your sister acted like a brat towards me so I gave her a bit of her own medication which she didn't like. Hence why she bolted inside."
"Oh...oh! Oh shit! hahaha! Well at least you two won't ever have a dull moment between the two of you."
"A dull moment with your brat of a sister? You're joking right?"Ja'far asked with a raised eyebrow
Natsu placed his hands up. "Never mind...so you two going out tonight like you planned?"
"Yes, it's part of why we're here now. I told her go change herself into something better suited for where I wanted to take her. I just hope that it isn't too soon between the two of us." Ja'far said averting his eyes
"Dude you've known Cin basically her entire damn life. There's rarely anything that you don't know about her. I'd be surprised if she tells you 'no'. you two are literally made for one another."
"I...I guess you're right with that. Well here's to hoping you're right."
It didn't take long for Cindy to come out wearing a single shoulder black knee length dress and two inch black heels to match her dress. She had her hands together in front of her as she looked at Ja'far bashfully. "I...is this dress okay?"
Ja'far took one look at Cindy and dropped his keys on the ground, Natsu nudged him to get him out of his daze before he quickly got his keys from the ground. He then went up to Cindy cupping her face gently in his hands. "You look so beautiful Cindy, that dress is more than okay sweetie."
She gave him a small smile. "G-good...I-I'm glad to hear that. I've had this dress saved from our senior prom."
Ja'far frowned hearing what she said. "That's the one you skipped out because you knew you'd be stood up isn't it?"
"Y-Yeah...it is."
"Well that bastard doesn't know what he's missing out on seeing you in such a beautiful dress."
"I...is it really that good looking on me?"
"Sis...you look drop dead beautiful in that dress. If it wasn't for the fact that your my sis and you're with Ja'far..." Natsu stated with his hands up
Her brown eyes widened in shock hearing what her brother said. "B-But I don't have that much of a figure...I...I feel like this dress just doesn't-" She started to say before she was kissed on the lips by Ja'far.
Ja'far looked her dead in the eyes as he spoke sincerely to her. "Cin, it's okay. You look beautiful in it. Don't let your insecurities get the better of you. I love you just the way you are."
Cindy teared up hearing him speak. "O...okay.."
Ja'far then let go of her face before he looked at Natsu. "Are you going to be okay for the night?"
"Yeah, I'm actually going on a date myself and I'm taking my daughter with me. If tonight goes well I'll be letting Cindy meet her to gauge her."
"Good idea, best of luck bro." Cindy said with a smile
"Thanks, and this time I'll be sure to listen to you."
"Boy you better." Cindy said before she left out with Ja'far
Ja'far drove the two of them to a movie first before he took her to a restaurant. While they were sitting in the restaurant Cindy was messing with the straw of her drink. Ja'far knew her well enough to know that there was something on her mind. He reached over the table and placed a hand softly on her arm.
"Cin, you can tell me what's on your mind, you don't have to keep everything bottled up you know."
Cindy let out a sigh as she shut her eyes for a moment before she looked back at him. "Do you think we'll last?"
"I hope we do, you mean everything to me Cindy. I didn't stop you from killing yourself months ago not to stay with you forever." Ja'far stated bluntly
She looked at him sadly "Are you certain you really want to stay around me? Even after all the nonsense we went through in college?"
Ja'far knew that something had triggered her thoughts and pulled her hands into his. "Sweet heart, what's making you think so down about us?"
She took a deep breath before she looked at him sadly. "I overheard some people in the teachers lounge speaking about their relationships and how different they were. A few of them were falling apart...I don't want that to be us."
"Ahn...I see. So that's what's going on inside that head of yours. Most of the other teachers in that school aren't as smart as they come off to be. Most of them have attitudes or lack the emotions to really grasp the concept of what it means to be with someone. Trust me you don't want to compare yourself to them."
"S-So...So we'll be okay?"
"I believe we will...Speaking of us Cin, I have a question for you."
Cindy tilted her head slightly to the side as she raised an eyebrow at him. "What might that be?"
Ja'far took out of one of his pockets a small box that had a silver ring inside of it. He then opened it up as he looked at her with a small smile. "Will you marry me?"
