Maya could only think of one thing.
Help.
But the words wouldn't come out. She closed her eyes and waited for pain to shoot through her body. But it never happened.
She didn't know if she was alive or in a coma.
"Am-am I alive." She felt her whole body shaking.
"Yeah" Lucas said, "I got you."
Maya opened her eyes. Lucas was holding on to her. He was shaking as much as her.
"You gotta be careful." He said.
"Yeah, th-" Maya said.
Their eyes met.
Maya was dazed. She felt something that she hadn't felt in a long time.
"Um, thanks, Ranger Rick."
"No problem" Lucas replied.
They remained in that position for a couple of seconds.
Maya looked away, not wanting it to last any longer.
"We should get going now." Maya said.
"Yeah" Lucas answered and put her down.
Maya didn't know what to do. Riley loved Lucas and she was confused.
