"Is it clear?" Trunks asked, looking outside of the alleyway carefully. "I don't think she's near, Cori."
Cori stayed silent for a little more, moving slightly towards the end. He peeked out himself and looked both ways. There were no signs of anyone near them and he couldn't sense anyone. The main person he couldn't sense was Lych, which he was glad for.
Since he had saved Trunks, he expected her to be after both of them. Especially with what Trunks had told him, he assumed they'd be looked for. He knew he was wrong since there was nothing telling that Lych did chase.
"Alright." Cori nodded his head, getting his attention. "Our...my hiding spot is near us now."
"Got it." Trunks walked behind him when he was led out. "I'll make sure to watch out for Lych."
"Mhm...she might be hiding somewhere waiting to jump us so get ready to run."
"...Right."
Carefully, Cori walked around the corner and found exactly where it was. It was a few steps away from them and seeing it made him slightly tense up. He swallowed hard and kept his eyes on it. Becoming scared now wasn't the best idea and he knew it was inevitable that he'd have to come back here either way.
"Here we are, I guess..." Cori couldn't help but slightly choke on his words. "This is where I've been staying."
"It's better than nothing." Trunks put a hand calmly on his shoulder. "I'm glad you could take me here."
"Right..." He reached out for the door handle but stopped. "Huh?"
"What's wrong? Do you sense Lych right now?"
"No but..." Staring at the door, he saw how it was slightly opened. "It's nothing." He opened the door all the way slowly. 'I probably didn't close it fully...'
Walking in with Trunks, he could hear how silent it was. Everything was much more empty to him, especially thinking about his friends.
Trunks didn't seem disappointed by it, weakly smiling. "This is a really good place to hide...I wouldn't think to look here."
"I know, I know..." Cori was beginning to sound frustrated, looking all around. "Where is it...?"
"What's wrong? Did you lose something?"
He went over to where the can of fruit previously was. "I had a can of fruit...that's why the door was opened, a survivor probably grabbed it..."
"I thought the same when I saw the door cracked open but I assumed you didn't close it."
"That's what I thought, too! I guess not..."
"Remember there are other people also trying to survive, too, so it's not entirely their fault..."
"That's true." He tried running his fingers through his matted hair. "I know but still..."
"Was it that important?"
"Sort of...you look like you haven't eaten in a long time and it would've been good to give you it." There was something he purposely left out. 'And...I was supposed to eat it with the others...'
His eyes stomach managed to quietly growl and he nodded slowly. "That's very nice of you to think about..."
"Yeah it's fine..." Scratching the side of his cheek, he sighed. "You can stay here, Trunks. I'll try finding food for you."
"No, you don't have to. Lych might still be looking for us, even if it looks like she's not."
"Are you sure? You do look hungry and I don't want you to starve."
