Chapter 15 - Fighting for Hope

"...What?" Cori couldn't believe what he heard from his friend. "You're...asking who I am? Come on, Raimu..."

He could only look his friend in the eyes. Raimu only stared blankly back but his mind was running with multiple thoughts. There was so much he wanted to say but he couldn't.

Raimu was as still as ever. 'I'm so sorry, Cori...but you can't get attached to me, please...not now...'

"I mean..." Goku looked at him and raised a brow. "Who are you?"

"My name is Cori and I'm his friend..." Cori narrowed his eyes and grew more worried. "So...he should know who I am..."

"Oh, that's-"

"You! You did something to him, didn't you?!"

"What?!" He jolted and quickly shook his head. "I didn't do anything!"

"You were just fighting him!"

"Yeah, but it was in defense of myself."

"He's right." Vegeta walked over to him and stared him down. "Lych was the one that did something to your friend."

Cori still stayed serious and wanted to keep his guard up. "And you are?"

"Vegeta."

"...I don't believe you, Vegeta." He shook his head and looked back at Raimu. "I've known him for so long so he couldn't have forgotten about me so easily!"

"I must admit, I did do something." Lych suddenly stepped forward and made her presence known. "How could I deny something so smart on my end?"

"..."

"Nice to see you again. Where's the other one? I just know he's with you somewhere."

He clenched his fists and shook his head. "Trunks isn't with me, he's still hiding."

"Oh, really?"

"Trunks?" Vegeta repeated the name and made it sound like he knew who he was talking about. "How do you know Trunks?"

Cori was clearly reluctant to answer but seeing their enemy standing across from them made him. "I know him because I saved him from Lych. She kidnapped him and kept him hidden."

"You're not being serious, right? That can't be true."

"You better believe it."

"Really?" Goku was also surprised to hear what he said. "I assumed Trunks was dead..."

"He's alive and hiding away from you." Cori spat out at her with hatred. "He should be the least of your concern."

"Oh, really?" Lych took out the remote for him to see. "What would happen if I push this?"

He was clearly sweating, his attempt at hiding it failing. "..."

"That's what I thought." She instantly pressed the button as he jolted.

They could all hear someone groaning in pain and Cori knew it was Trunks. Lych began flying towards that direction, already charging up a chi blast. She was about to shoot it towards him but Vegeta was suddenly at her side. He kicked her away and watched her land on her feet.

"Dad...!" Trunks was able to exclaim through pain until it stopped. "I'm glad you're here..."

"Trunks, are you alright??" Cori quickly called out, running over to them with Goku behind him. "I'm sorry!"

"No, it's fine...I'm glad you're here, Dad. I was trying to hide since I am weaker and I don't want to be a nuisance..."

"Wait..." He looked from Trunks to Vegeta multiple times. "That's your dad? But...you guys look so different..."
