Chapter 17 - A Newfound Strength and Hope

Raimu wished he could force himself up to see Daikon herself.

Her words were still echoing through his mind. He barely believed it was even her talking to begin with. His finger barely twitched but it went unnoticed by everyone again.

He could feel Daikon hold onto him tighter. "Raimu saved me so I saved him. I owed him this.

I'll protect him for as long as I can. This is what I owe him for what he's done for me so I can't leave him here to die.

He did so much for me...so I'll do just as much for him!"

Cori understood all of what she said and couldn't help but agree. "I still need to owe Raimu, too, so I'll protect him with everything I have!"

'Guys...you don't mean that...' Raimu almost thought he actually spoke. 'I...I don't believe it...you guys can't mean all that! I can't save you guys now so...'

"I can't believe it." Lych chuckled after everything they said. "You're doing all of this over some useless kid?"

"Don't call him useless." Daikon gritted her teeth and made it clear that fighting was going to happen. "He did more than you ever will."

"So don't talk to Raimu like that." Cori put up his fists since he could read off Daikon.

"What a stupid reason to protect someone like him." Lych kept laughing and even had the audacity to wipe away a tear. "And this is what will get you both killed."

She instantly shot several chi blasts towards Daikon and couldn't dodge in time. Cori was lucky enough to be able to pull her back, only one blast hitting her foot. Her expression made it clear that she still didn't want to let go of Raimu and he didn't want to argue against it.

He saw Lych coming towards Daikon but he pushed her away, Cori instead taking the punch that Lych meant to do to Daikon. Another punch came his way and he grabbed her fist only to get kicked away and roll on the ground. What he said about Raimu stuck with him so he instantly got back up and flew back towards hers, managing to kick her face. Though it didn't do much, he still wanted to make the attempt.

Goku watched how they were fighting, not struggling to keep up. "After all of that, they can still go on..."

His eyes suddenly went over to Daikon. Her slight struggle was made clear to them with the way she slightly fell behind with fighting. Even though she showed how weak she was, she still kept Raimu in her arms and pushed through.

"Especially her since she took your blast and all, Vegeta..."

"I'm surprised she's not the one dead..." Trunks shifted barely but that was enough to make him hiss in pain. "When will Lych give up...?"

"I don't know but they better figure out something before I get back in." Vegeta narrowed his eyes at how they were fighting. "Both are losing energy."

Goku paused and took out the pouch with Senzu beans, staring at the last one. "..."

"We'll have to use that soon and hope Raimu can hold out until we can defeat Lych."

"...Right."

Lych ended up getting hit in the face as she continued fighting. Though it didn't hurt her in any way, she still got annoyed from the attack. Cori and Daikon still weren't willing to back down, Cori attacking with his fists while Daikon was more focused on using her legs to attack.

"This is really nice to listen to! Who's winning?" The voice over her earpiece came up.

Lych grumbled several things when trying to ignore it. The voice distracted her just enough for Cori to barely knock her down. She wiped off her cheek and rolled her eyes, grabbing his wrist when he tried attacking again. From the corner of her eye, she could see Daikon getting ready to kick her. Lych caught her leg and threw the two into each other, watching them fall back down.
