Snowclaw curled herself into a ball, sat, and waited at the RiverClan border. A half-moon had passed since she had of confrontation with Nettleblotch. Surprisingly, ThunderClan had not come to question them, but maybe that was because Snowclaw had thrown her body into the river bordering WindClan and ThunderClan and made it look like she had fallen.
This was her fourth time coming to see Smokeblaze. They had become friends when they met up a quarter moon ago and decided to meet with each other over three days. Besides cats were so much more lenient on forbidden friendships and loves since the code had changed a couple of generations ago to allow them to join their lover's clan. But one thing was for sure, Smokeblaze and Snowclaw were not lovers. Snowclaw would not allow herself to fall in love after what happened with Archpaw. Especially since Smokeblaze was a RiverClan cat and she hated RiverClan. And not to mention she pretty much killed his mother.
The frail skeletons of the bushes began to rustle and Snowclaw stood up and waited expectingly, but to her surprise, it wasn't Smokeblaze.
"Snappaw?" she meowed. "What in StarClan are you doing here?" Archpaw did not say anything, he just stared at her with narrowed eyes. She knew that look, which she often gave to the fake outs in the Dark Forest—a look of disapproval.
"So this is what you have been doing?" he asked. Snowclaw noticed that he sounded hurt by her choice to do so.
"And? I don't live in the Dark Forest Snappaw." she snapped back. Archpaw frowned. He took a step closer to her.
"It's Snapjaw now," Snapjaw muttered. Snowclaw cocked her head.
"Congrats. But you never answered my question, why are you here?" Snowclaw bared her teeth. She may have been friends with Snapjaw, but she knew all too well that he was someone to be wary of. Snapjaw then walked toward her and got so close that their chests were touching. Snowclaw stood her ground. He was bigger than her now, but she knew he wouldn't attack her.
"I'm here to convince you to not see this RiverClan piece of dirt anymore," Snapjaw growled. "Can you be that dumb? He is a RiverClan cat, he is in the clan you swore revenge on. Not to mention the son of you idiot foster mother."
"Does it look like I care? I can do what I want." she hissed. Snowclaw shoved passed him.
"I'm just trying to protect you Snowclaw." Snapjaw meowed, not turning.
"You know I'm not seeing him because I'm in love with him! We are just friends. And I can protect myself. I have so far already haven't I?" Snowclaw spat. Snapjaw sighed, his eyes seemed to glow with masked fury, but it wasn't directed towards her. He got up close to her again.
"You will never understand, will you?" he looked down at her. Snowclaw wanted to get away, but she had to show Snapjaw that she was not afraid of him. They were close enough to where her muzzle was practically in his neck and their chests' were pressed together.
"Will you ever understand that I am perfectly capable of protecting-" she was cut off by someone pouncing on Snapjaw. To her surprise it was Smokeblaze. Snowclaw was so surprised, she just stared for a couple of heartbeats until she realized what Snapjaw was attempting to do. Snowclaw leaped at Smokeblaze and pinned him to the ground to get him off of Snapjaw. She wouldn't call it pinned. He was too big for her to Set her paws down on both sides. So she was more of just laying on him.
Snowclaw felt her face flush immediately and scrambled off of him. His heart beating wildly. That was embarrassing.
"What were you thinking?!" Snowclaw asked Smokeblaze. The large black tom glared at Snapjaw through narrowed slits while Snapjaw was bleeding from a torn part in his ear.
