"Kaizer!"

Eugene stormed into Kaizer's office, his face flushed with anger. "Why, Kaizer? Why?!"

"Tell me, Kaizer, why did Lord Katnier use the vita spell?!"

Kaizer's gaze deepened as he held Eugene's hand, trying to calm him. But Eugene was furious because the vita spell was his bottom line, and seeing Lord Keerto having a child made him panic for the fate of the unborn.

"Eugene--"

"I'm so fucking tired, Kaizer!"

Eugene's breath came heavy, his eyes wet with a mix of frustration and numbness. He looked at the man before him, who remained silent, likely waiting for him to vent all his emotions at once.

"You know my bottom line. You know my fear."

Eugene sneered, "So why, Kaizer?! Fucking tell me why you allowed your father to perform it when you are here, strong enough to fight him?!"

"And fucking tell me why I only know this now?!"

People in Artha are cruel to themselves, but even more so to others.

Because of what happened to him and his twin, he had long despised the method that made him exist.

A child born through magic will either be unlucky or lucky, and the living proof is them.

He was already tired of his life, and yet another threat came knocking on his door, like a sharp blade pressing against his neck, bleeding him, controlling his every move.

If Lord Keerto gives birth, Eugene is certain a god will descend to bring judgment again, and he, with his record, will be seized and sealed to erase the threat to the divine beings.

He will be targeted repeatedly, or worse, he will be used again because the child came into existence under the eyes of the heaven's favored son. If Khalil watches the birthing process, it's like giving a blessing and erasing any perceived evilness. Isn't it so unfair that they can't harm the heaven's favored child, so they will come after him to pay for their mistakes?

"Kaizer, just what are you planning?"

"You know that if that child is born, I will bear another sin." A sin he didn't commit, but must bear because he is the one filled with dark energy and is believed to be evil.

Kaizer's expression remained unchanged as he coldly said, "I'll protect you."

"If the heavens come after you, I'll fight them and save you."

Eugene retracted his hand and sneered, "Kaizer, I've said this many times."

He rested his palm on the desk and leaned in, "I don't need saving."

Dying is the most wonderful thing for an immortal like him. He isn't afraid of being killed by the heavens or anyone else because death has been his expectation all along. Its just people keep giving him more reasons to give up early.

Why on earth has he been holding on for thousands of years?

If he truly sought death, he could surrender himself and let those damn gods erase his existence, but he didn't. He kept having hope despite being betrayed numerous times. And what's worse? His hope came from the same man who keeps letting his hand slip.

"You're not allowed to come in my room tonight."

Kaizer watch his lover walk away and immediately resume to working. It's not like he didn't care. It's just he think that it's already time to end this scenario because Eugene keeps walking in the same path as it is. If this continue, his lover wouldn't be able to go out of his life maze.
