"First Cai, and now MK?!" Mei whined, slumping in her seat behind the food truck stand, chin resting on the bar. "It's no fair!"
"Well it's no surprise that Cai isn't showing up this year, after all, they go home to America to celebrate every New Years with their family," Tang hummed, putting together a dumpling for an order, before handing it to his husband. "And MK said he'd be training with Monkey King so--"
"Now who said that I wouldn't be here for New Years?" A familiar voice caught the group's attention, who all gaped in shock at the sight of their friend, standing there with a tote bag, weapon cases and Albus on their shoulder.
"Cai!!"
"You're here!~" Squealed Mei, the dragon girl tackling her sibling into a hug, rubbing their cheeks together affectionately. "Wait....why are you here? Don't you usually go home for New Years?"
"Yeah, I do, but I decided to stay here this year to celebrate, Grumpy and Grammy understood and weren't upset when I called to explain either so, yeah,"Shrugging xier shoulders, the corvid pulled out red envelopes and handed one to each of the group.
"Those are your Great-Great-Grandparents, right?" Pigsy asked with a humm, after thanking the male for his gift, placing the envelope in his pocket for later.
"Yup! Grammy also says to wish y'all a Happy New Year," Patting Mei on the head, Cai simply laughed as the dragon girl squealed in excitement, about how this last bit of money would be enough to buy a new bike upgrade that she'd been eyeing.
"By the way, where's MK? Isn't he usually helping you every year during this time?" Looking around for the troublemaker in question, the raven found she couldn't find him anywhere.
"He's off training with Monkey King."
"Ah, I see."
A frightened squeal from Pigsy had Tang, Mei and Cai all turning their heads to see a mountain of gifts from Sandy, which'd been placed down on the counter, "Good cheer and happy New Year!~"
"Happy New Year to you too Sandy," Handing the cheerful boatsman his red envelope, she smiled and handed Mo a treat as well, the cat thanking the bird with a purr.
"Anyways, I'm gonna' go check out the other stalls, but don't worry, I'll be back in time for the parade, okay?" Waving the others goodbye, they wandered about for a bit, Albus cooing happily on xier shoulder, making the Bird Beast laugh and scratch under his beak. "Having fun, are we buddy?"
The two were just about to move onto the next area of the city, when Cai noted a familiar looking demon sitting behind a BBQ stall counter, making her smile and walk up to greet the teen, "Red Son, Happy New Year!~"
Jumping in surprise, the last person he expected to see was one of his own enemies at the stall, "Wh-what on earth are you doing here?"
"Celebrating New Years of course," A light chuckle left the Bird Woman, who studied the menu for a bit, then looked back at the red clad teen. "So then, how's it going? Your dad feeling better?"
"I am fine, mortal," DBK's voice grunted from the back of the stall, Cai moving to look past the fiery teenager, and seeing his father working on the food in the back.
"Oh, hey DBK, Happy New Years!~" A grunt was all the answer they got, the bull favoring working on the food, instead of answering the young adult, who shrugged and dug inside xier tote bag to pull out three red envelopes, passing them to a confused Red Son. "Here, for you and your parents."
