Warning: Cursing, Violence, mention of drugs
A 2014 shows that at least some corvids can resist the urge for instant gratification—if you make it worth their while.
The sounds of the song 'Summer' by Good Kid played across the beach of Flower Fruit Mountain, as Cai allowed the baby monkeys to play with xier hair and climb all over them, having been taken to the island by MK after Pigsy had asked him to look after her whilst he and Tang went shopping. Mei and Sandy were too busy with work, so that left only the male teen, who unfortunately had training with the corvid's least favorite being.
Surprisingly--or perhaps unsurprisingly--Cai hadn't fought much on the idea, simply asking that they'd not have to interact with Wukong, so the teen had left her on the beach under the watch of the mountain monkeys.
The past week, the artist hadn't done much beyond crying and looking for Sirius, the cat having disappeared in the night, with none of the crows being able to find him, or any of the gang. Sandy had offered to let them borrow one of his cats, but that only ended up making her sadness worse, so that was quickly shut down.
Monkey King had very reluctantly, promised to leave the woman alone and not bother her, opting to watch MK as he worked instead. Unfortunately, the poor boy's most recent tasks hadn't been the most....entertaining of them. It was simply him hammering walls for most of the day, with his sibling resting on the beach.
"Come on Monkey King, can't I do something more interesting than this?!" Practically crying comical tears, the teen was begging at this point for his mentor to have him doing anything else than the current task.
"Kid--"
The sound of said kid's phone going off interrupted the immortal, making his eye twitch at the fact he'd been cut off, and even more irritated that his own student answered the call, "Yeah Mei? Huh?! A monster?! Sure! We'll be there!" Coughing awkwardly as he hung up the phone, the teenager came face to face with a deadpanning Monkey King, who heaved a sigh at the excited look his pupil had on. "Oh boy, uh, looks like training is being cut short, welp, Cai and I have to go, bye!~"
No even giving the simian a chance to respond, MK booked it outside and yanked his sibling away from the very upset monkeys, who didn't like the fact that they were losing their jungle gym/playmate so suddenly, screeching angrily as the pair took off.
A bit later, footsteps caught the grumpy monkey's attention, who turned to happily greet their king, the ginger simian kneeling down to let the small troupe on, "So, what was she like?"
Excited to tell him of their new friend, the babys got to talking, their parents still watching from the trees.
Hopping out of the Tuk-tuk and rushing towards the monster Mei had called about, Cai's eyes widened in shock at the sheer size of it, "MK, you should probably--"
"I've got this!~"
"Not listen to me, you should not listen to me," Was the sarcastic sigh the corvid let out, pinching the bridge of xier nose, turning to face the dragon girl, who looked at her sibling in concern.
"You feeling alright?"
"Yes, the baby monkeys were very sweet, giving me snacks to cheer me up, which worked....a little I suppose," Shrugging, both females deadpanned as their brother came crashing into the ground, shaking their heads in unison at his stupidity.
Just then, a figure rushed past the group and ran towards the monster, Mei squinting her eyes to see who it was, "Is that...Monkey King?"
"Can't be, he's too lazy to do any real work," Was the instant scathing response.
