A short Jimin story based on themes in his album. Jimin's been dumped during the holidays and goes into a downward spiral. Luckily Jungkook is there to catch him when he eventually lands.
The next day after practice, Jimin and Jungkook headed to a restaurant near their old dorm. They were mostly quiet on the drive over, both lost in their thoughts, wondering what to say first. Once they were seated across from each other, Jimin took a deep breath and began. "Thanks for meeting me tonight." He gulped as he stared at his friend's large eyes. "I know the atmosphere around your practices have not been great, and I feel like that's largely my fault." Jimin chewed on his bottom lip as Jungkook continued to stare at him wide-eyed. He was about to continue when Jungkook interrupted.
"I'm so sorry, Jimin-ah. It's actually my fault for not being there for you at a time when you needed me most." Tears formed in Jungkook's eyes and one fat tear dripped down his cheek as Jimin reached a hand forward to squeeze Jungkook's fingers. "I've been feeling so guilty about it and didn't know what to do."
"I've seen the guilt on your face each practice, and a part of me wanted to forgive you. I'm sorry it took me so long."
"I don't blame you." Jungkook looked down at their fingers that were still entwined, and it lit a fire in his chest. "I know you were really low, but I still didn't like seeing what you were doing and said so, as if I had any right to judge. The other week when you said you were doing what you needed in order to not do something worse ... it nearly broke me. That's when I really knew how much I fucked up."
"Hey, I'm fine. I mean, not fine fine, but I'm doing better." Jimin smiled warmly at his friend. "So let's eat some good food, and catch up, ok?" He saw a smile and nod from Jungkook. "No more apologies."
"Let's not fight any more," Jungkook whispered.
"And let's start having fun at practice. Only 2 more weeks until your concert!" Jimin raised a glass of soju to Jungkook, "You're gonna crush it!"
Smiling, Jungkook clinked glasses with his friend, a large smile on his face, and added, "We're gonna crush it!"
