“She cheated on him?”
“Yes, Leah cheated on Chief.” with an emotional voice, Jenna mumbled. Her face was glued with disgust as she leaned her back on the bench and turned to face the sky. “She was caught by the chief’s spy sleeping with Otrova’s Capitaine.”
I sighed and averted my gaze from Jenna to the magnificent mansion in front. “Then what did he do after that?”
“Nothing. The Chief advised her not to approach him.” Jenna said, her voice heavy. “Everyone believed that she was special to the chief, that’s why she was not even punished.”
“This is not possible.” I drew my legs up to my chest and put my head on my knees, attempting to ward off the bitter taste that was emerging on my tongue. “I don’t think he’ll let her get away from him after being betrayed like that.”
Jenna let out a frustrated groan. “Nobody knows anything about it because the thing between Chief and Leah was never revealed,” she asserted. “But why are you asking and where the fuck have you been looking?”
I shook my head and chuckled, then met Jenna’s gaze. “I wonder what else he wanted to achieve when he already had everything?”
“Maybe something—” she replied quietly as her hand delicately tucked small strands of my hair behind my ear. “—that will bring him close to the Bratva’s world’s most powerful throne.”
“But why does he want this throne?”
“To become the most powerful among the Bratva.”
“But I am sceptical that becoming the strongest Bratva member is his primary objective. He is motivated by something more than conjecture.” After much deliberation, I presented my views to Jenna.
“Possibly. We’ll never understand what these people are thinking.” Jenna nodded in agreement with what I said.
“Let’s go.” I stood up and zipped up my jacket.
“Where?” Jenna asked as stood beside me.
“Mansion.” I gestured towards the mansion and remarked, “It’s time for my breakfast.”
“Amelia—” Jenna called out my name, and I could sense the anguish in her voice deep down in my heart. “Why are you behaving like this?”
“Like how Jenna?” I asked, turning to face her, so I could interact with her face-to-face.
“As if everything is normal, and you have not been accused of being a traitor.” She yelled, wanting to say this since morning, but she held back since she was concerned about offending me. “How are you not reacting to such a big thing?”
“Why do you expect me to react to that bullshit accusation?”
“So that everyone knows that the allegations against you are false—”
