“I love you,” I confessed, my voice quivering as the words tumbled from my lips. It was as if the confession had been coiled within me, a secret waiting to escape, and the moment had finally arrived.

He simply nodded, a slight smirk playing on his lips as he pulled himself from me. “I know,” he replied, his tone as cold and unyielding as the winter’s embrace. He gently, yet firmly, helped me to stand, my legs wobbly beneath me.

I stared at him, confused. “What?”

“That you love me,” he said, his gaze piercing as he held my eyes with his own. His eyes, typically a serene shade of grey, now held a glint of something inscrutable, something that sent a shiver down my spine. He pulled out a pristine handkerchief from his pocket and with the same gentleness, he wiped the evidence of our passion from my trembling thighs. His other hand remained braced against the wall, trapping me within his embrace. “And never forget it,” he whispered, his voice a dark caress that sent a shiver through me.

His cold demeanour was not unexpected, but the way he spoke those words, with such intensity and possession, was unsettling. I had hoped for a spark of warmth, a hint that he felt something in return, but instead, his words wrapped around me like the chilling embrace of a spectre from my darkest nightmares. I am a little terrified of what he will do if I do not give him what he wants.

I nodded, my eyes never leaving his, as I smoothed the fabric of my skirt with trembling hands. “I will never forget that I love you,” I whispered, my voice cracking as I spoke the truth. I forced a smile onto my face and cupped his cheeks with my trembling hands. “But you must not hurt me in return,” I added, a single tear escaping my eye and rolling down my face.

Taehyung’s eyes, a dark abyss, searched mine, his expression unreadable. He leaned into my touch, his hand moving to the back of my neck, his grip firm. “Don’t make me enjoy you again, baby,” he said, his voice a seductive purr. “With your bravado.” The words hung in the air like a warning, a dark promise of the consequences of my actions.

I took a deep breath, steeling myself against the emotions that threatened to overwhelm me. “You know,” I began, my voice quavering, “many people who were close to me have already hurt me.” His hand stilled on my cheek, and his gaze searched my eyes, looking for the truth in my words. “And if you hurt me too,” I continued, my voice gaining strength, “I will forget you, Taehyung. Like you never existed in my life.”

His eyes narrowed, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of something—was it anger, or perhaps surprise? But it was gone as quickly as it had appeared. He leaned closer, his breath warm against my cheek. “Your strength is what intrigues me, Millie,” he murmured. “But remember, I am not one to be trifled with.”
