Monday morning and Daqing plus Chu arrived to find the tech wizard at work before them, and they approached to ask his name.
"I'm Lin Jing. I've been here since Saturday setting up the laptops and the internet connections. Zhao Yunlan has offered me a job to stay as the resident tech and maybe learn to be an investigator but that would take time. He left quickly on Saturday after he got a letter. I don't think he was feeling very well, Shen Wei took him home."
Chu was beginning to like this newbie, there was never going to be any secrets in the office if he was here and they would ask Yunlan about the letter when he arrived, but for now he introduced himself and Daqing.
"This is us, the whole team and you make four. Did Yunlan get a lift in Shen Wei's car or with someone else?" Chu asked Jing.
"Must have been with someone else, because Shen Wei walked and the other guy was gone when I went to ask something."
Chu took Daqing to the side and spoke quietly.
"It looks like the letter upset Yunlan and Shen Wei sent for a guard to take them home, let's tread carefully when he arrives."
Yunlan didn't realise until Monday morning that he had no transport to work, he had left his car parked outside the office all weekend, so he took a gamble and stood outside his front door and spoke to no one in particular, hoping that whatever guard was on duty would hear him.
"Good morning, I'm hoping that you would do me a small favour. I know you're here somewhere and can probably hear me, but Shen Wei teleported me from my office at the weekend, so I left the car behind. I have no transport, could you please take me back? If you have to ask permission ..."
Yunlan felt his feet float slightly before he finished talking and touched down out of sight of the street camera. When he turned around it was Guo Ying.
"Thank you very much, I can use the car the next time."
He watched as Ying nodded and vanished in front of his eyes. Fantastic, he thought and walked around to the front entrance seeing his car still parked where he'd left it. His three staff members in the office upstairs were waiting on him.
"Morning everyone, have we all met. Did you all have a good weekend off, except for our techy who has been working for two days. There was another letter on Saturday but the delivery guy was not the suspect. Our security team has put a grid around the office and my house. It will alert them to any unwelcomed visitors. Questions."
"Do we have a security team? What kind of grid? " Lin Jing asked and Yunlan hoped that Chu and Daqing would guess who he was talking about.
"Yes, they're on loan from Shen Wei and its their grid, we don't have to do anything, they're dealing with it."
