Guo Ying didn't like this idea but he obeyed and started work in the office which had the reputation of being distasteful towards Yunlan's department, in other words, they hated them for some unknown reason, and that's why he was here, to find out. He sat towards the rear of the room behind the rest of the officers busy at their desks, and scanned their thoughts one at a time. There were ten officers and two of them were females, so he started with them first and apart from what he expected to find, they seemed to have no ill will against Yunlan or his office, but he also discovered that they had hidden skills, which meant that they were descendants from the families of the other world, and in hiding.

Next he scanned several of the men and found out exactly the same, none of them had any bad feelings towards Yunlan or his department. This didn't make sense, Yunlan was not mistaken because Chu and Daqing had sensed the malice as well but he still had another two men left who sat behind him and he stopped for a break. He was standing at the coffee area when Shen Wei made his timed entrance to speak to the chief in charge about the phone call involving the boxes. The atmosphere instantly changed to hate, loathe, despise, and every other negative reaction that Wei could identify.

Guo Ying had received the same message sent to him, but he blocked the effects and played along, realising that it must be one of the remaining men and he was watching him. He could feel the strong emotions coming from everyone but couldn't say anything to Shen Wei until the telepath responsible released his victims and he waited patiently.

Wei felt the wave of hate hit him as soon as he entered and noted that Ying couldn't speak to him, so he went straight to the chief's office to see what his behaviour was like. Chief Kunlun had been a police officer for over twelve years but still had some time left before he would consider retirement, however he had a reputation of being an impatient man, especially with new officers.

Shen Wei entered and introduced himself as he watched for any strange behaviour similar to what was happening in the office outside and he closed his door. He was completely different to what he had been told. Very polite and answered every question truthfully, especially when it came to Yunlan and the new office.

"I like to see young officers advance in their careers. You know, no one else applied for that job and I don't know why. There was a rumour going around that it was a dead end job, no one in their right mind would take it. I don't know where it came from and all the young staff in my office were excited for him when he was transferred to the new office, it really blew that misinformation out of the water. I have ten young hopefuls out there wishing that it was them, I push them too hard and my temper can be a bit harsh at times. Do you have anything you would like to discuss?" The Chief asked.

Shen Wei was worried, something was definitely wrong somewhere, and he asked about the phone call to pick up the boxes. The Chief denied making it, he had checked the boxes himself and there was nothing of importance in them. If Yunlan didn't want them, he was even willing to throw them out and save him the journey back here because he knew that he would be busy in his new place, organising files.
