Chu went to the cells to keep watch over the messenger who was slowly beginning to awaken while Daqing looked after Gelan. It had been unbelievable for her first day at work and her nerves had not settled down completely, but she could talk and ask questions. Daqing offered her some tea and she sat with her hands wrapped around the mug enjoying the warmth.
"Does that happen often here?" She asked, trying to make conversation.
"Gelan, we've only been open for two days, let's hope not." Daqing answered knowing that she was still in shock.
"The guards really can disappear ... Shen Wei appeared as well ...Chu has coloured strings ... Yunlan nearly got killed twice."
"Yes Gelan, all true, except Yunlan nearly got killed four times, are you alright? Do you still want to work here after all this on your first day?" Daqing asked as he watched her try to make sense of it all in her mind.
"Yes Daqing, I'm just a little shaken but I think it would be a good idea if I learned how to defend myself. Would someone be able to teach me?"
"Yes Gelan, I'll ask and find out but I'm getting you another cup of tea. Keep the doors locked until you feel better."
Daqing flew upstairs but stayed away from Yunlan's office where he knew Shen Wei would be trying to hold back his anger with a guard, and advised Lin Jing not to hear anything that might leak out accidentally, however they did turn up the heating because the office was very cold for a short while.
Wei had helped Yunlan to a sofa while he recovered from the shock of holding an explosive letter and also the effects of Wei's mild hypnotic instructions. The guard was not so lucky and he sank to the floor waiting, as the room became colder and Wei stood in front of him, glaring.
"Explain yourself. Why was Yunlan left alone with no protection while holding an explosive device which you had scanned and passed as harmless?" Shen Wei asked the guard who had no excuses to give. He knew that he had made a huge mistake which nearly cost Yunlan his life and the explosion would have injured the rest of the staff in the same room.
"Guo Ying, come and remove this guard ... Starting with this one, retrain all of them, sharpen their skills to prevent anything like this from happening again. We are only six in this world, otherwise I would have removed him from my service. Teach them well. Dismissed."
Ying and the guard left quickly and the room began to heat up a little as Shen Wei calmed down and went over to sit beside Yunlan who had been watching and listening to Wei's anger but he recognised fear as the reason behind it. Fear that he would lose Yunlan again too soon after meeting him and he knew that if he did not admit it , even just to himself, he would add another brick in that emotional wall.
"It wasn't his fault Wei, I asked him to go." Yunlan said as he looked towards him.
"He should have scanned the paper as well as what was in the envelope. Just because it was only a sheet of paper doesn't mean that it's harmless. It seems like we are dealing with more than one person and they both have a certain level of skill. The guards have to be more vigilant, it doesn't matter that he left, he should have secured the threat before he did anything else, if I hadn't come ... ..." Wei couldn't say what he needed to say and Yunlan pushed slightly.
