MONDAY, OCTOBER 1ST — 2007

AND BEFORE THEY knew it, weeks had passed.

Every now and then, Logan would spend the night. But their days always started out the same with Clara making them breakfast, and then going downstairs into the shop to start their days.

For the first few days, Logan shadowed Clara as she worked on Jerry's car. He would help every now and then, and eventually, Clara was the one sitting with him, guiding him through each step. No matter how many questions he had, she answered all of them patiently. No matter how many times she would step in to help with something, it never irritated him like it usually would've.

Outside, the leaves began to change colors, the wind getting chillier. It was finally October now, and Logan had been in town for nearly a month now.

Clara was sitting in her office, working on a computer, while Logan was out in the garage, working on a new car. Thanks to having extra hands around, Jerry had gotten his car back faster than originally anticipated, and because of it, had treated the two of them to free drinks for a night.

Her new normal was comforting. It was comforting having a new person around, a new person to get to know everyday. To learn new things about. Marie and Bobby had yet to visit them yet, but she heard him talking on the phone with them every now and then, when on his breaks.

Clara decided to take a break, closing her eyes to break the connection, and rolled out her neck. She really wanted to see if there was a way for her to establish a connection without tilting her head. But she hadn't been able to figure that out yet.

She heard her office door open, and opened her eyes to see Logan standing in the doorway. "Hey," She said.

"Hey," He replied, and a small blush crept onto her cheeks.

"What's up?" She asked, reaching up to massage her neck. He watched her every move, and then shook himself a little, as if he had been in a daze.

"I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing," He said, "see if you were at a stopping point for lunch."

Clara looked at the clock on the wall, and gaped a little. "Damn, I didn't realize it had gotten so late..." She looked back at Logan. "You didn't have to wait for me, you know. It's almost 2pm."

Logan shrugged, and leaned against the doorway. "I don't mind."

She got up from her chair, and rubbed her eyes. "Alrighty, what should we do for lunch then? The diner? Jerry's?"

"Let's go to Jerry's. We rarely go there for lunch. But you know, you really gotta get into cooking at home," He said, making Clara laugh.

"Ugh, I used to cook at home all the time, for the kids," She replied, rolling her eyes. "Now that they're grown and moved out, I can be...Irresponsible for the first time in my life, since I was a teenager."

She moved past Logan through the doorway, and he followed her. "You have a fair point," He said. "But my point still stands."

Clara shook her head, giggling. "You're right, I concede." She drew her hands up in defense.

The two of them made their way out of the shop and across the street, where Jerry excitedly exclaimed, "My usuals!"

There were a couple of construction workers sitting in their usual corner, and Clara waved to them, and they waved back. They worked across town, building new apartments for the town. Apparently the council wanted to expand, or something. But they usually always came in for their lunch break.

"Logan here says that I need to cook at home more," Clara said as they sat down in their spots. Jerry laughed as Logan sat down, and responded, "I'll give you some starter recipes, darling. Stuff that'll taste real good."
