It was almost halloween on the scottish moors and Blaise Zabini was having the strangest time of his life.

And we're not talking about puberty, it would have been much preferred.

The normally calm and aloof Slytherin kept getting distracted, losing his train of thought and once ended up hitting a wall while walking because he spotted a person.

Althea Dorea Potter, heiress of the Potter,Black,Peverell,Gryffindor, and Slytherin families was the worry of his existence.

Blaise had no problems being part of the Pendragon family, his entire family served the organization and having awakened the glacier flame was a pride for him, furthermore having this particular flame allowed him a certain margin in the training of the new boss, straightening out a certain Longbottom and turning him into a proper leader was something he had dreamed of since their first meeting, Blaise was absolutely horrified by the deficiency in Neville's education.

(and if he took some sadistic pleasure in working him to exhaustion, well that was a nice bonus. In a certain island country on the other side of the world a certain assassin in a fedora sensed a kindred spirit, while the boy who was currently dodging the assassin's bullets, he had a moment of sympathy for someone he never met.)

The problem wasn't that Althea was being trained by the Varia, the fucking independant assassin team, the training was focused on her knowing how to fight to defend herself not to murder, as well as trying to turn her into one of the best healers there was.

Nor was it the fact that she was actually the heir of Slytherin, but not the person behind the previous year's attacks.

The fucking problem was this:

Althea's older brother was that you don't want to commit suicide and first in the thrower of objects at subordinates ranking.
He had discovered all this after sending a report to his mother, who was absolutely thrilled by the idea that her child had not only found his center of gravity but also had the opportunity to get into the good graces of the Varia and perhaps of the Vongola, who had always been allies of the Pendragons ( the Pendragons were the only family that remained a group of vigilantes, but their work was made practically impossible by Dumbledore), in short Blaise would have done better to become Althea's friend and not a toady, or maman would have been particularly creative in her punishment (where do you think Blaise's sadistic streak comes from?).

Blaise thanked heaven and whatever supreme being there was that he had never antagonized Althea and never thought that she was behind the attacks or that he did not consider her a possible life partner but a precious ally.

Confronting the leader of the Varia because he thought he was stalking his little sister, no thanks, he would make sure he was only ever in the friend zone with Althea, he had no intention of committing suicide.

Considering the looks the rest of the male student body had begun directing at Althea since she had begun to develop (she was blossoming into a true beauty) the rest of the Hogwarts population was screwed.

Especially Ronald Weasley, before potions class he had grabbed Althea and tried to kiss her, telling her that it was time to stop avoiding him and go back to being his girlfriend, it was blaise who pulled him away from her with a lightning move because he was the closest person and as a gentleman he couldn't allow someone to impose themselves on a lady like that, this was the explanation he gave to Snape, who had arrived just in time to see Althea trying to get away from Ron, but hadn't had time to do anything so Zabini had intervened, (this also gave him a reason to be seen in the future talking friendly to Potter without the various purebloods being able to interfere).

While Snape asked Althea if she was dating Weasley, she replied that she would rather be with a toad, Snape didn't hesitate to suspend him for the whole term of molesting a girl (Snape hated James Potter but the only reason he treated Althea rudely was the headmaster's damned orders, a point Snape made clear after the first unofficial lesson, the first step in destroying any trust Althea had in the headmaster, Althea was an exceptional potionist and Snape had spent the previous years honing her talent by pretending to give her punishment after punishment, while in reality he had gone so far as to teach her several fifth year potions, and after discovering that she wanted to become a healer he had lent her several volumes of medical potion's including some eliminated from the hogwarts textbooks, how standards had fallen since Dumbledore was headmaster, potions that Althea now knew by heart and that summer she had distilled under Viper's watchful eye for the Varia), Althea had then thanked Blaise.
