Vivian POV
Niko asked if I was afraid of him and I blurted out the truth. I should have said "duh, you're a beast with no heart. Everyone is afraid of you." There was something about the way he looked at me though.
He liked the fear running through my body, but somehow, I knew he wouldn't hurt me. Not just because of the stupid vow. He wanted me at his mercy. Probably to fuck me senseless, but at least it wasn't to kill me.
I cleaned up my garden some then headed upstairs to change for dinner. Tonight, we had guests and prisoners arriving. This should be fun. One more check I can make on the list of things I never wanted to experience in life.
I sat quietly at dinner, waiting nervously for these prisoners. I couldn't get them out of my head and had no idea who they were.
Would they be beast like Niko, bound and blind folded? Is Niko really going to peel skin from their bodies while I sleep a few rooms above them? How do these people carry on like this?
I glanced toward Niko and his eyes were on me. He was enjoying the fear racing through every vein of my body. Does he like hurting people? Of course he does. Fuck! Have I really been telling a monster to fuck off the past few months? Oh my god, did I seriously have sex with a man that killed people? Tommy too. I remembered that blade slicing over that man's neck. Blood poured out over Tommy's hand and he smiled.
A shiver ran through my body. I leaned closer to Niko in fear. "Will they just walk them through the house?" I whispered.
"Who?" he asked with eyes full of interest. He was loving how I was squirming.
"The prisoners? Who else, stupid."
He growled at me and my eyes widened. Right, don't call a murder stupid. "Sorry! I'm just freaking out. Will I see their faces? I don't want to see dead men walking, Niko."
He chuckled at me and everyone turned to us. Niko rarely ever smiled, let alone laughed. The few times I saw it we were alone and usually about to get naked.
"You are a very curious person, Viv. I can only imagine the thoughts you've been concerning yourself with."
"Don't laugh at me." I pouted then went back to my food. Murderer or not, he was a brute.
After the food was done there were still no prisoners. I didn't bother to ask Niko anymore questions. He would just laugh at me or tell me lies to scare me more.
I got ready for bed in a red silk gown that Marie picked out. Every night she came into the bathroom with one of these and every night I told her no. Tonight, I was a nervous reck and didn't even notice. I left my bedroom door open, pacing the floor and listening for any sounds. I don't know why, but I needed to see these people.
The front door slammed shut and I heard voices coming from downstairs. I shot to the steps before Mario could grab me and gasped in horror. These weren't people. They were children. What the actual fuck? Niko cannot peel their fingernails off. Not unless it's over my dead body.
"Why the fuck do I have humans half the size they should be in my house?" Niko's voice was booming through the open room, rattling the walls and I slowed my steps down the stairs. Maybe he won't hurt them.
"They are Grasso blood. The head of the families heirs."
"They are children!" Niko spit back, punching the man that spoke in the face. Blood flew out of the man's mouth and he fell to the floor. Fucking beast.
"This is fucked. I swear I'm going to ring out Anthony's neck." Niko punched the next two men over and over again, making the little girl cower into a ball.
