Vivian POV

I laid in Greg's office for at least a day. I had no concept of time anymore. I couldn't allow myself to feel anything or the hard truth would come rushing back to me.

"Vivian, we should move you to your room. It would be more comfortable and we can clean up better." Paul spoke softly as he moved the hair from my face. I was on my side staring aimlessly at the wall.

"I don't want to move." I replied in barely a whisper.

"I know, V. If we can just clean up a little then you can lay back down. I promise just a little bit I need you to get up."

I nodded ok, slowly lifting from the bed. My body felt like lead and my core felt achy. I winced, slowly moving off the table in just an oversized tshirt Paul gave me.

"I got you V." Paul whispered, picking me up bridal style.

He walked out the door and a swarm of men were out there. Did Niko actually think I would run in the state I was in? As Paul walked further on I noticed them all following behind us.

"Why are there so many guards?"

"Don't worry about them V. They are here for you, not against you."

"What does that mean?"

"You didn't think twice to save them and they are showing you their respect."

I laid my head into his shoulder, closing my eyes. Do all of them really stand to protect me? Did that apply to Niko too? I didn't want anyone hurt because of me.

We reached upstairs and Paul brought me to the bathroom. Marie was there almost in tears as he set me down.

"I'll be right outside if you need anything. Let Marie help you clean up and then maybe we can eat a little together." His thumb ran over my cheek. He left me closing the door behind him.

"Oh my dear child. I'm so sorry." She spoke softly. "Let me help you. I made you a nice bath."

"I can't take a bath. I have stitches." I answered in a monotone voice. It was hard to feel anything right now.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know."

I lifted my shirt off me and stood in the shower. The warm water flowed over my body washing away any emotions trying to creep into me. I quickly washed then grabbed a towel.

"Your favorite." Marie held out a pair of my jogging pants and tank top.

I nodded my head with a half smile taking them from her. I didn't feel comfortable having her dress me.

"Do you want to sit and I can do your hair?" She asked, full of sadness. She has seen me depressed before and always tried making it better. I was just numb now and nothing would make anything better.

"I just want to lay down." I responded as I opened the door.

"You look nice and refreshed." Paul gave me a big smile but I just turned to the bed. "Want to go downstairs and get some food?"

"No, I'm tired Paul. I would like to rest." My tone was even with no emotions.

Paul laid next to me, wrapping an arm around me. "I'll have some food brought up. Amy and your Aunt wanted to come see you. Is that ok?"

I really didn't want any visitors but that wasn't fair to Amy. She was probably terrified not to mention we were back on enemy territory.

"That's fine." I said "I don't want Amy leaving my side again." I ordered with a hint of anger.

"Of course. She would happily listen to that order. Get some rest. I'll be back shortly." He gave me a kiss on the cheek but I felt nothing. He was a good friend but none of that matters anymore.
