Vivian POV

I couldn't believe how quickly the blinders were pulled from my eyes. Niko took my body for his pleasure, lied to my face to get me to submit to him, then fucking tore my heart out.

The pain inside my chest was unbearable. I wanted Michael safe and missed him already. I prayed and threaten God countless times to watch over that boy. I hated Niko more than I thought possible, yet my body missed his. I wanted to be at his mercy but I also needed him at mine.

The way he dismissed me was like a knife cutting me open. How he threatened to harm me tore at my heart. Then how he demanded my body the next morning, not caring one bit about the pain I was in, destroyed everything inside me. He didn't care about me.

I tried biting my tongue. I knew lashing out on him would only make my life harder. The rage and hurt he caused me was too much to just push down though. Once I finally got to Amy's room, I ran to her and held her for hours. We both cried for Michael and in fear for what this meant for our lives. She was only eight years old and I knew she feared Niko would take her back home one day too.

We sat for breakfast and my mouth pissed off Niko yet again. I wasn't sorry about it though. Vanessa was a fucking snake that would never lay a finger on Amy again. Once he dismissed us, I decided we needed to find a way to learn to defend ourselves. Amy and I were completely defenseless in every way. I had to calm my emotions down then find a way to better protect us.

I read a book about a far way place to Amy. It was about a princess trapped in a castle under her evil stepfather's rule. Her name was Ophelia and she secretly taught herself in potions and magics, hoping to escape one day. Amy liked the story and I prayed it ended with the princess killing all the men then ruling the world. I had never heard of this tale before and she didn't need any dark endings right now. I promised to finish after dinner if she promised to eat a few bites.

This little child was scared out of her mind and I was no longer a safety to her. I proved how useless I was when Niko ripped Michael away from us.

He was a smart boy though. He had to use his wits to survive his family now. Maybe Niko would kill them soon and Michael could come back here? I didn't know what the protocol was when one family went to war with another.

"Ready V?" Paul was at the door with a small smile.

"Yeah." I responded with a gulp. I didn't want to go down there, but I had to.

"Hey girl!" Sophia slid in, closing the door quickly. She ran to me, wrapping her arms around my neck. "I'm so sorry." She whispered

"Sophia the Capo said no visitors." Paul was pissed looking at us.

"I know. Calm yourself. I was just stealing a quick hug. We both know she needed it." She gave him a wink then walked out. I giggled at her, loving that she showed me that small gesture of support.

We hadn't spoken since we arrived and I was wondering how she was doing under her father's constant watch. Anthony was quiet most of the trip but he was observing everything. He was a slimy fox, definitely up to no good.

"Let's go sweetheart." I pulled Amy into my arms and we walked to our shunning yet again. The two outsiders that didn't belong and everyone wanted killed. It was great to be alive!

I was escorted to sit next to Niko again and rolled my eyes. He ordered this seating arrangement so I was kept under his control. I just wanted to go back to New York already.

I took a deep breath. Time to play nice. You get more flies with honey and blah blah.

Light conversation about world events carried on that I knew nothing about. I had no access to the outside world. Maybe I should ask for a newspaper. Do they even sell paper copies anymore? I guess one of the guards could print it offline for me to read.
