I climb the familiar tree into Ronnie's Room,
slipping in the window.
"Ronnie" I quietly call for her
She comes out of the closet and double checks her door is locked before hugging me
"Jessie thank god. My dads refusing to bring me"
She walks over to her speaker and
starts playing music so her dad won't hear me
"He told me I can walk or stay home, how cruel is that." She drops onto her bed.
Her and Flynn are very similar in their dramatics but
Ronnie always had more a sense of grace about her.
She doesn't fall or flop the way Flynn does,
she floats like a feather, landing on her satin sheets with her hair falling angelically around her face.
"Well I'm happy to escort you there" I lean against the wall next to her closet
"But you've to be there in an hour, and you're in a towel"
I point out kicking her closet door open
"Are you rushing me?"
"Yep, hop to it blueberry, takes you 20 alone to put on that wig alone"
She tosses a pillow at me
"Oh thats it" I knock the pillow away and jump onto the bed pinning her underneath me.
I start tickling her making her burst out laughing
"No, no stop please" She pleads through laughter
"Are you going to get ready?"
"Yes I promise, please" I get off her and pull her up
to her feet, lightly shoving her towards the closet
"Okay go"
I lie on her bed while she gets ready, putting on her blue sparkly outfit and blue lipstick
"15 minutes Bluberry, you ready?"
I look over to her vanity where she's doing her
make up, she basically ready except for one small,
blue issue
"Jessie" She turns to me using her sweetest voice
"Yes darling" I copy her tone
"Would you do my wig?" She asks batting her eyelashes
I sigh and roll off her bed laughing
"of course"
After 25 minutes of hair and a 30 minute drive we make it to the club.
"Am I late? How late am I?" I go to check my phone but Carrie appears to answer the question
"You're late" She stands in front of us crossing her arms
"Actually she's just on time, you're on in 5"
She turns to look at me
"And what are you doing here?"
"Carrie" Ronnie says hoping to stop her friend
"I'm just here to make sure you're not a dancer short. Besides I wanted to see how my choreography turned out"
"Please you and Flynn are probably here to plot somthing against me" she scoffs
"Wait Flynn's here?" I ask confused, having not known she was coming, though I suppose she didn't know I was either
"Like you didn't knew, you probably came together. I am surprised you didn't bring Julie along. Finally realise you could do better did you"
"She brought me, Flynn wasn't with us"
"Ya, and I'd watch what you say, would hate to have to mess you up right before a performance because you were talking shit about Julie" I smile threatening the girl
"Jessie" Ronnie scolds me and I feel kind of bad, I'd hate to cause issues for her
"Looks like you guys are up" I say pointing to the
stage where the last act is packing up
Carrie turns to go onstage and Ronnie gos to follow her
"Hey" I grab her arm
"break a leg" I wink and let go, letting her take her place.
Carrie does her diva introduction moment, thanking everyone and putting on one of her many pairs of no doubt very expensive sunglasses.
I contemplate looking for Flynn but decide not to,
not wanting to deal with the looks and comments that always accompany me helping out Ronnie or Dirty Candy.
I sit at the bar and watch as Dirty Candy start to preform.
Whenever I walk in the room,
All the focus on me,
Carries back up dancers come on stage including Ronnie.
She insisted once that they weren't backup dancers, that they're all equals but Carrie's always in the front or center and her costume is slightly different than the others with white knee highs and crop top insted of the black all the others sport and sliver shorts insted of ones that match her colour, clearly making her the lead.
I dropped it however having not wanted to upset Ronnie.
The way I talk, the way I move,
They all want on my team
Not tryna brag, brag
But I'm flawless
I'm taking over your playlist
Ain't perfect but I can't miss, Yeah
The party don't start 'till I walk in
