I finsish work at 7 like normal on a school day.
I don't work many school days, usually just picking up shifts when they suit.
It had been a busy day but I like that way, keeps me distracted which is exatly what I needed today.
The last week or so had been exhausting.
Between freaking out yesterday, then the nightmare and the three boys being there at my side the second I woke up which was multiple layers of embarrassing and overwhelming and the weird feeling I've been getting everytime Julie and the Phantoms play not to mention the whole living with ghosts thing again, a busy day at work is exatly what I need.
"All right Jessie just bring the check to table 8 and you're good to go" My manager says
"Thanks Alice" I grab the check and bring it over to table 8
"Here's you check will that be everything" I say looking down at the checkbook
"How about a date?"
I look at the table to see Chris sitting there
"Chris what are you doing here, I thought we were meeting at Julie's party"
"I thought maybe we could get coffee or something first, just us? It had been so nice spending time with you on Saturday."
"Ya it had been, here or?"
"Is the coffee good here?"
"Not too bad, pies good if you like pie"
"I could go for pie"
"Okay let me stick the order in and sign out"
I sign out and bring the coffee and two slices of cherry pie
"Oh cherry, it's kind of a feminine flavor isn't it?" he laughs
"It's a fruit, I don't think fruit has gender like atributes"
"I bet a woman made it though" he laughs
"Lets, talk about something, anything else" I mutter the last part
"Sure, sure"
"What kind of music do you like?"
"Rap"
"Oh cool, my friend Flynn raps"
"Is he in the music program with Nick"
"Yeah she is"
He let's out a loud laugh
"Funny"
"What is?" I ask confused
"Girl's can't rap" he says with a straight face
"You know I think I should be getting home for Julie's party" I say fed up already
"Oh alright let me pay, WAITRESS" He yells over to Alice snapping his fingers
"What are you doing that's so rude, stop"
"Can I help you" Alice comes over and asks, polite but not nice
"Check" he demands
"Here you are" she gives him a tight smile
"Thanks Alice," I say silently apologising for him
"Here what do I owe"
"No I'll pay" He waves me off with his hand
"Really I don't mind splitting it" I insist, not really wanting him to pay for me
"I'm the man I'll pay"
"We split it Saturday, what's changed" I question his sudden horrible attitude
"I should have paid then too, men should pay for a date"
"This is ridiculous, you're ridiculous" I scoff leaving a $20 on the table and heading out the door
"Wait Jessie" Chris shouts chasing after me
"Oh and don't come to Julie's party you're uninvited" I say as I get to my bike
"Wait what? What's the issue?"
"The issue is that all of a sudden you're a complete jerk.
Wheres the sweet guy I went to the cinema with?"
"But Veronica said you liked confident and outspoken guys"
"And you took that to mean to be misognystic and rude"
"Well" he rubs the back of his neck shrugging
"I've to go, goodbye" I scoff getting on my bike and head home to get ready for Julie's party.
I find it odd that Ronnie had talked to him about my type,
of course she was hardly responsible for his behavior it was strange that
she was interacting with my love life, between this and telling him I had a date for the dance.
Maybe she knew he was an asshole and was trying to deter him from asking me out but then why would she give him advie about what kind of guy I like, which was only partly true anyway.
Sure I like confident guys but I wouldn't say outspoken, more so passionate and genuine.
I also like for them to be loyal, caring, ambitious and being tall helps. Someone like-
"Luke!" Julie shouts, pulling me from my thoughts "Get out"
I look up to see Luke's head sticking through Julie's door
She throw's the skirt in her hand at him
"Ow" he says as it passes through him
"Ow... really"
"Well the intention hurt" He enters the room "I just wanted to check if you were ready for the gig, we're on in an hour"
I look at my phone and see it's already 6:10.
How did time go by so quickly?
"Yes I'm ready, mostly. We're tring to decide what to wear"
"I know what I'm wearing, you just won't decide" I laugh
We had gone through her entire closet and were now trying her moms stuff
"Okay I'm trying to decide what to wear"
"Well I'm sure you'll look great no matter what you wear"
"Thanks" Julie says pushing a hair behind her ear
"But you need to leave" she says quickly trying to get him to leave
"Oh okay, ya I'll see you later" He frowns, giving me a quick, tight smile before leaving
"What's with the sudden cold front"
"Nothing" she lies "Why don't you just pick my outfit"
I root through the box, finding a white top that portrays Julie's love for butterfly's
"Here wear this top, I'll loan you my black and white tech wear pants and I'm fairly sure you have hair clips and shoes to match"
"That's" She holds the top "Perfect, thank you"
"It's my job as best friend" I shrug "Now go get dressed, I'm gonna help Flynn set up downstairs"
