I leave the studio I had been at with the engaged couple I was teaching the dance to.
It went well, they both loved it and only a couple minor changes were needed.
It had taken a couple hours but the booth picked it up fairly quickly.
I walk along the street, leaving my bike at the studio, on my way to the cinema.
It's only a couple minutes away so I opt to walk.
Arriving outside the cinema I see Chris standing outside with a bunch of Daisy's
"Hey Chris" I greet him as I get closer
"Jessie, hi. You look great" he says handing me the flowers
"Thanks" I smile
I definitely don't, wearing Black bike pants that I put on over my workout shorts and one of Luke's green day t-shirts that I had cropped a few years back. I was definitely not dressed for a date and despite the generous amounts of deodorant and cherry body spray I put on after dancing I probably still smell like sweat.
"What do you want to watch?" I ask as we get in line for tickets
"I dont mind"
"How about the live action Mulan" I sugguest, having wanted to see it anyway
"No" he shakes his head "Disney is so childish"
I bit my tongue at that comment
Its just his opintion
"Okay you choose then"
He gets to the counter
"Two tickets for spy cats"
You have got to be kidding me, thats not childish?

He hands me the tickets and I smile at him
I'm sure it won't be bad, childish but not bad
"Any popcorn?"
"Here I'll pay for snacks"
"No I insist, what do you want?"
"Small popcorn and a coke"
He nods and gets our popcorn and drinks, we head into the movie.
Being new out the screening room is filled with familys and childern
"well this is rommantic" Chris grumbles when a kid starts shouting
"You did pick a kids movie" I laugh
"Hmm"
We finish the movie with little talking
Chris having tried twice to grab my hand and hold it in his sweaty grip as I reach for popcorn
"So do you want to get somthing to eat" Chris asks as we exit onto the street
"Oh I would but I told Ray I'd be home for movie night and its nearly 8pm already"
I say looking at the time on my phone
"No, thats all good. Maybe some other time" He asks hopeful
"Yeah sure, I'll see you in dance class" I say excusing myself back to my bike

I arrive back to the house, smiling as the smell of popcorn hits my nose and sibling bickering hits my ears.
"You picked last time" Carlos whines trying to pull the remote from Julies grip
"No I didn't its my turn"
"I'm not watching the notebook" He crosses his arms
"Well I'm not watching a soccer movie"
"Kids" Ray warns turning around with his arms full of popcorn bowls
I step forward and take the bowls from his hands "I got them Ray"
I say bringing the bowls to the coffee table
"Jessie" Carlos shouts "Isn't it my turn to pick"
"Actually I think its Jessie's turn" Ray says bringing over cups of hot chocolate
"Oh I don't mind" I shrug
"Please it'll stop them from fighting"
"Okay" I sigh trying to think of a movie
"Let me guess" Julie starts sharing a look with Carlos
"A disney movie" They both laugh at my predictably
I laugh awkwardly "Yeah"
"So what will it be" Ray asks sitting next to his daughter on the couch, taking the remote from her hand
"Mulan" I suggest sitting next to Carlos who pulls a face
"Oh come one" I laugh tickling the boy "War, fighting, a talking dragon what more could you want"
He laughs trying to break free from me
"Theres, no, soccer" He says between laughs, nearly falling off the couch
"No but there's a sword fight, thats way cooler" I argue
"Okay fine" He admits defeat "I guess dragons are cool" He grumbles settling between Julie and I
"Yeah they are" I cheer grabbing a bowl of popcorn and kicking my legs up on the table, settling into the couch as Ray turns the movie on
"Can you and Julie at least not sing this time"
"Not a chance" We both laugh at the same time
"Great" Carlos grumbles and Ray laughs looking over at his kids
He loved how much the three of them got along, it warmed his heart

The credits start playing as the movie ends
Julie laughs as she looks over at Carlos, lying asleep on my lap
"Dad" She laughs getting Rays attention who had started to clean up
"Oh Jessie here let me get him"
"Its okay" I wave him off "I'll bring him upstairs"
As carefully as possible I pick Carlos up and carry him up to his room, laying him in his bed
"Jessie" He mumbles as I turn off the lights
"Yeah Carlos" I ask turning back to face the boy
"I guess Mulan was pretty cool" he says half asleep
"Yeah" I smile
"But you're cooler" He mumbles turning into his pillow
"Thanks little man, so are you"
Soft snores are the only response
Walking over I pull his blanket further over him
"Night kid" I wisper kissing him on the head
