Devonte

When I got to the car, Yaz was gone. I could feel cold fury creeping up on me. If only I had taken my phone with me to the bathroom. If only I had gotten to her faster. If only, if only.

It didn't matter. I was too late and now there was bullshit about her being arrested?

Only crimes Yaz every committed were speeding tickets.

There was no way she had a warrant. Which meant the cop was dirty, or not actually a cop.

I checked my phone. Her location was moving which meant she still had her phone.

I checked my gun.

Then I plugged her location to my gps and followed the directions.

He finally had her. He never expected it to be this easy, but life was easier when you had access to police databases. There was so much information he had at his fingertips.

She was sitting in the cab, looking confused. Which was understandable. She didn't know why she was here. Neither did he really. He didn't care, he was just a middle man if you will. A hired gun.

And shit he kind of liked it.

He checked his phone. The rendezvous point wasn't far, but he needed to get rid of her phone. That wasn't part of the plan.

Shit, he wasn't a real cop, he didn't know what cops did with cell phones but what he did know was he couldn't throw it out the window with her watching. He wondered if his cousin would get fired when they discovered what he was up to.

Using police databases to spy on citizens  and arresting a citizen for a personal grudge was probably enough to get fired. Oh well. His cousin deserved it for not noticing his missing uniform and for leaving his work laptop unattended.

He decided to take a detour, dump the phone, and then resume his route. His phone rang.

"Yeah I got the b-suspect. We'll be there in ten minutes. Copy." He hung up.

"What do I have a warrant for?"

"Ma'am when you get to the station they will explain everything to you."

He navigated into a gas station and pulled up to the pump.

"Why can't you explain it to me now?"

"Ma'am you might want to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."

"I didn't do anything so it don't fucking matter. What the fuck is going on?"

He hopped out. "Sit tight." He quickly walked over to the pump, pretending to pump. Really he was looking for the perfect moment to ditch the phone.

As he tried to figure it out, a car came squealing in.

Fuck. It was Devonte.

He tried to steel himself. He was in uniform. He had a gun. There was no way Devonte would assault an officer.

Right?

Devonte

I knew I wasn't tripping when the navigation led me to a local gas station. And even before then, they weren't heading towards any type of precinct that I knew of.

It was a set up.

I was mostly worried about collateral damage. I had no qualms about shooting the Nigga between the eyes whether he turned out to be a cop or not because he had Yazmine.
