It felt good to be back in Indiana. Which was weird, usually I hated being there. I only tolerated it because of my family. But now here I was, introducing the newest member of our family to my family. Well nah, Armon wasn't the newest. Kennedy had the baby (I high key don't remember if I said what the gender of the baby is lmao). So now both me and Dre were uncles. I had a beautiful niece named Parker Taylor and Dre was the uncle to Armon.
We were at my aunty house, everyone alternating between cooing over how gorgeous Parker was and tryna get to know Armon. "This is your baby cousin Parker," Kennedy was explaining to him. He was fascinated by Parker, and he stretched out his arms to hold her. Kennedy helped him hold the sleeping baby, and he grinned down at her.
"He looks just like you did when you were a bad ass toddler," my aunt gushed. "Aw, he's gonna be my baby."
"Man, Aunty don't be tryna spoil him and shit. Between you, Trey, Dre, and Renee family he gonna be spoiled as fuck." I was sitting in the couch, Yazmine comfortably perched beside me, our legs touching. Kennedy was still monitoring Armon as he held Parker.
Meanwhile, Trey and my brother were arguing about something. My father had made a rare appearance to meet his grandchildren, but he had left.
"Speaking of Renee, I'm surprised she let you bring Armon up here." My aunt looked at me, a deep, searching look.
"I mean, she's here too." And she had made the flight to Indy, although she didn't fly with Yaz and I. Her and Armon flew a different airline and she and Armon were staying in an Airbnb.
"How is she?" My aunt asked tryna be slick. "She give you any drama?"
"Nah, she cool."
"What you think Yaz, she cool? Give me the tea!" My aunt was a mess and Yazmine snickered. I gave her a look and she stopped laughing.
"I actually have never met her." This was true. None of the drop offs or pick ups Renee and I organized involved Yaz.
"Well, shoot, I wanna meet her." My aunt smirked.
"Aight aunty." I wasn't worried about her.
"Why you ain't meet her, Yazzy?" Aunty asked.
"Just never had the opportunity yet."
"Shit, ya'll can both meet her at the same time." I closed out the conversation.
Shit was definitely about to change anyway. Yazmine would be back in Indiana for school. Originally, I would have moved back up there. But now, with Armon living in Atlanta I would be staying, at least until he got more acclimated to me and I would have him for longer periods of time. His momma was in Atlanta, and I didn't want to just uproot his stability. It was bad enough the lil nigga was alternating between two households at his young age.
Kennedy finally took sleeping Parker back from my son, and slowly lowered her into her carseat. The whole scene just felt so domestic, made me feel old too.
My phone flashed. It was Renee. She wanted to know what time she could get Armon, since he still wasn't staying with me overnight. Right now, it was only around 8:00 pm, but I knew she had him in bed at 9:00. I texted her back, letting her know I would drop him off at her Airbnb. Which meant I would need to leave soon.
