Discovering the Journey

Nya's P.O.V:

The rest stayed in the cave as I swam across the ocean. I needed to get to the palace and find my dad. Then, I can take him to Kai. 

He is usually in the building area with his friends. You know doing building things, whatever that is. I swam in the large palace that was made out of marble. Then, I went through the hallways to the building area. I found my dad making a golden trident for his friend Wu. 

“Dad,” I tried to catch my breath. 

“Yes, Nya. What is it?” He asked, hammering the trident. 

“I need to show you something. It is really important!” I said. 

“Wait, Nya. I need to finish this,” my dad said. 

“No, this is more important,” I said, taking his arm and dragging him with me. 

“Nya! It can't be that important that you can't wait,” my dad yelled. 

“But, it is! It is really important!” I said, swimming backwards so I can talk to him face to face. 

“We will see about that,” he said. 

We swam across the ocean and reached the rock cave where my friends and I spend most of our time. I led my dad in and I noticed Kai looked at him with more tears in his eyes. 

“Kai…” 

“Dad!” Kai said, hugging our dad and our dad hugged him back. 

“How were you found?” our dad asked, letting go of the hug. 

“We were going to college, but we stopped because Nya wanted to jump right on our deck and we found out we were siblings,” Kai said. 

“Nya! I told you not to take risks like that!” He yelled at me,“but, this time I am proud of you.” 

“I knew it!” I said. 

“Who are they?” Our dad asked. 

“My friends: Cole, Jay, Zane, and Lloyd,” Kai said. 

“Nice to meet you guys,” he said. 

“Nice to meet you, too,” Zane said. 

“Hey,” Cole said. 

“Nice to meet ya,” Jay said. 

“Hello, Mr.Smith,” Lloyd said. 

“How is Maya?” our dad asked Kai. 

“She is doing well, but she misses you guys a lot. She is thinking of coming back, but before that she wants me to be able to know how to become a merman,” Kai said. 

“That's nice. You should become a merman,” our dad said.

“But, I like being human and I don't want to leave my friends,” Kai said. 

“Awww,” Jay said and Kai rolled his eyes. 

“I see. But, what if I tell you that there is a way where you can become human and mermaid or merman at your command,” he said. 

“What?!” Kai looked stunned. 

“Yes, the only reason your mom doesn't want to become a mermaid yet is because she is waiting for you. She can become a mermaid again at her command at any time,” our dad said. 

“You are kidding! Can anyone do this?” Kai asked. 

“Yes, anyone can do this. But, we have to keep it confidential because we don't want enemies to become mermaids or mermen and try to attack us,” our dad said. 

“I understand. Is it alright if my friends and I get to do this?” Kai asked. 

“And is it alright if my friends and I can become human?” I asked. 

“What?!” Kai's friends and Skylor yelled. 

“Of course you guys can,” he said. 

“How?” I asked. 

“You guys have to go through a journey to find a special paper that explains the art of doing this,” our dad said. 

“What journey?” Kai asked. 

“I have the map for the journey in a secret place. I will get it to you in two days,” he said. 

“Ok. By then I will be able to convince P.I.X.A.L and Harumi to become human with us,” I said. 

“Yeah. I will get going now. See you guys,” our dad said. 

“Bye,” we said. 

Once he left, we started brainstorming how we would keep Kai and his friends down here. 

“We can keep our ship up and stay there,” Lloyd said. 

“That is way too dangerous. Somebody will find you by then,” Skylor said. 

“We can continue our journey to college because we only have two days left and come back when you guys are ready to leave,” Zane said. 

“Yeah, that sounds good. But, when do you guys start college?” I asked. 

“In two weeks,” Zane said. 

“What?! You made us come early!” Jay said. 

“I had to because I wanted to prepare,” Zane said. 

“Seriously,” Jay said. 

“Ok well we will stick to that plan and by then our friends would be happy to come with us,” I said. 

“But, how do we know when you guys are ready?” Cole asked. 

“Oh, you will know. We will have our friend sing,” Skylor said. 

“Yeah, she sings so good that you guys will be lost in her voice,” I said. 

Jay shuddered. 

“What?” I said. 

“That is a part of the myths. When mermaids sing, they can cause shipwrecks and they lure sailors to their death,” Jay said. 

Skylor and I started laughing so hard. What was he talking about? 

“You are joking, right? None of the myths are true,” Skylor said. 

“Yeah, P.I.X.A.L told us about the myths that you guys made about us and how they are all fake,” I said. 

“They aren't fake,” Jay said. 

“They are and that is why they are called myths,” I said. 

“See this,” Skylor said and she started singing. 

“Ahhh!” Jay screamed. 

This made Skylor sing louder and then she stopped. 

“Wow, your voice is beautiful,” Kai said. 

“Thanks,” Skylor said. 

“See, nothing happened,” I said. 

Jay was ducking down with his fingers in his ears.

“Oh you are right,” he said. 

“Exactly,” I said,“so two days later we will meet in the same spot once we hear P.I.X.A.L singing. Then, we will start our journey.” 

Everyone agreed by nodding.
