Mermaids and Explorers (ON HOLD)

Thunder

This is a map of Ninjago. The island above the red 'X' on the map is where they are headed. In the chapter before they were at the Fire Temple and in this chapter they are at a new place! You could use this map if it gets a little confusing. 

Zane's P.O.V:

Our next stop is in 10 miles, but where is it? So, in order to answer that question, I sent Cole to ask Nya who sent Cole to tell me that our next destination was to a lighthouse.

It was weird how big Ninjago was. I come from Birchwood Forest and the rest come from different places around Ninjago. We met in school and became friends, decided we wanted to go to the same college in Ninjago City and here we are. Life really is something. You never know what could happen.

Like you never know when you fall in love, with a mermaid.

The currents of the ocean were chill like me, so it was a smooth ride to the lighthouse. I stopped the ship in front of the island and tied it to a piece of wood I found on the ground. It seemed secure enough.

"Where are we?" Cole asked, hopping off the boat and onto the island.

The mermaids stayed in the water as they gazed upon the giant gray stoned lighthouse which was towering on top of a giant mountain of rocks.

"We are at the lighthouse. This is where many misfortunes happen. Some say it's dangerous to go inside and if you do, you never return," P.I.X.A.L stated, staring at the lighthouse, but I swear I caught her staring at me for a few seconds.

"Those are all myths!" Jay said with a contemptuous attitude.

"Really? Pix, you should tell them about the story of Mr.J," Skylor said.

Pix...wow.

"Sure. Mr.J's story is really famous among us mermaids and mermen. It stops us from going really far into the sea and even onto land. Mr.J was a human who loved gold, so when the explorer's club that he went to told him that there was gold at this lighthouse, he was thrilled. The next day he was prepared to go to the lighthouse, but when he went there, he encountered large black creatures who tried to take his life..." lightning barked in the sky which made Jay whimper.

"Mr.J ended up escaping, without any gold. But, when he came back he wasn't the same. A few days after his return, he had fallen into a coma and doctors report that he won't be healing anytime soon."

Crashing thunder roared seriously as the rain poured extremely hard. The water currents were getting faster which made huge waves.

'We need to get inside!!" Jay screamed.

"You guys go, when this weather comes, we usually hide in an underwater cave," Harumi said.

"I'm afraid there are no underwater caves here. The lighthouse is well protected which stops anyone from leaving, so when thunder like this strikes, there is no way to find shelter underwater," P.I.X.A.L said with a worried expression which made my heart hurt.

"Then, we have to take you," Jay said, scooping Nya out of the ocean and running up the giant rock mountain to reach the lighthouse.

With that, Kai and Lloyd followed, carrying Skylor and Harumi. Cole ran because he didn't want to get anymore wet. Plus I think he knew I could take P.I.X.A.L.

"Need any help?" I asked, lending a hand while she was in the strong currents.

P.I.X.A.L hesitated for a bit, but ended up taking my hand. I carried her bridal style as she held onto me tightly.

"I only asked for help because I really needed it. This doesn't mean I'm not grateful, I'm just saying I could take care of myself," the girl boss said which made me snicker.

"You're welcome?"

She didn't respond, but she looked a little annoyed.

I ran as fast as I could because I didn't want her to get any more wet.

When we arrived inside the lighthouse, both P.I.X.A.L and I were drenched in water. But, everyone was sitting in front of the fireplace inside. Jay had his arm wrapped around Nya who used him for support. Skylor laid down with her face right in front of the fire as Kai laid down next to her. Cole was pushed to the back, but still got the warmth he needed. Lloyd was sitting next to Cole which angered him because Cole was right in between Harumi and him.

"We...are...here...." I barely said, catching my breath.

"Thanks, do you mind dropping me off near the fire?" P.I.X.A.L asked, staring at me with those emerald green eyes that can get anyone to do anything.

"I thought you could do things yourself," I laughed.

She stared at me, rolling her eyes.

"Ok, ok, I was just joking," I said, placing her close to the fire. I sat next to her, so she could use me as support to sit, but she didn't need the help.

She sat down perfectly fine. It was as if a human was sitting down with their legs out but for this instance it's a mermaid tail.

"This feels good," she said, with a bright smile.

Thunder cackled in the distance which made everyone jump.

"Wait, we are in the lighthouse!" Jay screamed.

"Those are myths, remember?" Nya said, placing her hands closer to the fire.

"What?!"

"Yeah, we were just messing with you," Nya laughed,"sorry."

Jay crossed his arms as he pouted. I guess Nya had a task to make him happy again!

"Once the storm passes by, we should get going," I said, trying to get some of the warmth myself, but accidentally brushing my hand on P.I.X.A.L's stomach. I noticed her shiver and freeze in place.

I wonder if she liked the feeling.

"Yeah," Nya responded to what I had said.
