JULY 21ST 1994

"America?"

"Yes, they've gone to New York to perform, darling. That's where they are right now."

Emma was shocked to hear the news.

She had called the Gallagher household barely containing her excitement because she'd heard an Oasis tune on the radio, Supersonic to be precise. Liam had almost bored her to tears going on and on about hearing himself on the radio and seeing himself on telly and now that she'd gotten a taste of it completely by accident, Emma was dying to tell him about it.

But Peggy was the one who picked up the phone because as it turns out, he was on the other end of the planet.

And he hadn't told her about it.

So much for wanting to give him a call before going to work.

"Oh wow. That's... that's something, innit?" Emma said, trying not to sound too dumbfounded.

"Has Liam not told you about it? They've been going on about this for weeks."

"No, he must've." Emma quickly lied. It was better that way. Plus, if she was lucky, maybe she'd end up lying to herself as well. "I probably just forgot. Thanks, Peggy."

When she hung up the call, she felt weird. Hearing Liam's voice on the radio had made her feel so close to him but now he was miles away, both figuratively and literally.

"James?" Emma called out. "James!"

"Yeah, what?" James replied. She was getting out of the bathroom, wearing nothing but a towel around her waist. Her long brown hair, now wet, cascaded down her shoulders.

Liam's in America. "The Oasis lads are in America."

To her great surprise, James seemed unphazed.

"Yeah, I know." She simply replied.

Emma's jaw dropped. "You know? How come?"

"Noel told me."

Somehow, that surprised her even more. "Noel? When have you spoken to Noel?"

"The other day on the phone." James shrugged, making her way downstairs to join her sister. "Why, what's wrong with that?"

"Well― no, nothing really." Emma replied, still very surprised. "He's a good lad, right?"

James smiled. "He's a fucking prick but he's sound." She said. "D'you know what? I think I might actually take him to the ice rink at some point, just to take the fucking piss and that." She smirked, almost as if she had already developed a mental image of the scenario.
