"RADFORD, HELP!" (RADFORD ROUTE PT. 0.2)
"Sh—Shit.. uh.." I glance around, struggling to find words. I turn over to Kevin. In return, Kevin glares back at me while crossing his arms—his eyes sternly staring ahead as if judging whatever decision I'd make. I turned to Rick—his blank eyes staring back at me with no emotion.
I can feel my heart racing, and my thoughts swirling. Who was I to choose in a situation like this? I can feel my skin becoming clammy just from how nervous the situation was making me.
Finally, I find myself loudly uttering a name, but it's not the name of either Kevin or Rick.
"Rad—Radford!"
The room fills with silence. I feel a warm flush of slight embarrassment wash over my face. Kevin and Rick both stare back at me with arched brows, and I can see Radfords head lifting up in the corner of my eye with his mouth hanging open.
"..ye—yeah—Radford! You're clearly stressing him out by arguing over something so petty. What's wrong with you?!" I find myself saying, gesturing over to Radford who was still sitting near Ethan. Radford kept his head lifted in the corner of my eye, and while I couldn't see him that well, I could practically hear the smile in his voice as he utters gently, "..dude.."
Kevin pauses, before lifting both his hands and gesturing with them as he frowns. "Well, this isn't about him! Why would he care?"
"..I agree." Rick blankly says to add to the conversation, taking a step foward.
"Yeah—and unless he wants to tell Rick what a jerk he's being, I don't think he should be apart of this conversation at all!" Kevin huffs, his arms still folded over one another as he lifts his head. Rick immediately begins to frown more, and suddenly, the tension in the room begins to rise up again.
"Kevin, you were the one who started this in the first place. He probably wouldn't be calling me the jerk in this situation when you were the one who got upset over me not saying anything about what you wrote." Rick snarls blankly, peering down at Kevin with judgement in his eyes.
Kevin's lips draw back into a snarl, and he sharply turns to Rick with his fists clenched. "Are you kidding me?! I'm not the one who did anything wrong! I saw you talking to everyone else, so why can't you just at least try to say something about my—"
Before Kevin can finish, I see a form rushing past me, and before I know it, a figure is standing between the both of them—stopping them from getting any closer.
"Dudes, stop it!" Radford yells, now between the both of them. His arms are completely spread, and he practically stands as a shield to prevent them from possibly doing anything physical. The room fills with silence again. Kevin stands with his mouth hanging open, and Rick only barely widens his eyes.
After a few seconds, Radford lets out a sigh. "I think you both need to calm down. I know Rick not saying anything might have upset you a little, Kevin—but—" Radford slowly turns over to Kevin as he softly frowns. "—I'm sure he didn't mean it. And I'm sure he didn't mean any of what he said to you. You didn't mean any of what you said to him either, right?"
"I—" Kevin pauses, glancing around as if searching for the words. Finally, he let's out a sigh. "..no.."
"And, Rick—" Radford turns back over to Rick, looking up at him and softly grabbing his wrists. "I think Kevin just felt like you were judging him because he saw you talking to everyone else and thought you just didn't want to say something mean about what he wrote."
"..oh.." Rick utters. He then looks over at Kevin, who immediately looks away with a flushed face the moment he stares at him. Blankly, Rick frowns and softly says, "..sorry."
