RICK ROUTE PT 0.1

As I stood mindlessly within the confines of the club-room, I couldn't help but let out a sigh, pondering what I should do before we share movie scripts or movie recommendations like Ethan had suggested the night prior. But I couldn't help but find myself also pondering what it'd be like to talk to Rick a little more.

I find my eyes drifting in his direction. He looked to still be sitting in a corner, slumped over and watching something on his phone that was rather tiny compared to his large hands. And even then, his expression seemed blank. I kinda wondered how he always looked so calm about everything no matter the scenario. Or just generally bored out of his mind.

My face then suddenly felt warm—or at least automatically felt warm the moment I saw a familiar pair of blank eyes slowly start to stare back at me. Rick's cold, emotionless eyes that I could hardly read—staring right back into my own. I immediately glance away, not wanting to make him feel weirded out by me. And in the corner of my eye, I see Rick's head slowly lower again, and his eyes drift back to his phone.

But.. somehow, I couldn't keep quiet. Awkwardly, I muttered. "Sorry.. I was spacing out a bit.."

Rick looked up again, blinking for a moment. Sensing I was talking to him, he mumbled. "It's fine."

Silence filled the air—well, at least between me and Rick. I could hear Radford and Ethan chattering from another part of the room still. I slowly turned on my heel toward him, slowly lifting my head and pointing at his phone. "You—Your phone, uh.."

I gulped, made more nervous by the blank way he was staring at me. "..what.. what are you watching on.. y'know.."

His expression didn't even shift or flinch, and I only continued to internally berate myself for sounding like such an idiot. But of course, he calmly responded like always. "I'm watching that movie I gave you the DVD of."

Oh.. that movie. It should have been obvious it was that, I guess. I managed to muster a stammered reply, barely taking a step closer. "Oh.. you—you are? How come?"

"..I wanted to watch it again." Bluntly replied Rick, his gaze drifting back to the screen.

Huh.. even though I wanted to talk to him more, he was a little hard to talk to with how overly blunt he was about everything. It didn't really seem like a bad thing since it was probably just part of his personality. But it was a little hard to keep up with someone like him when I barely knew what he was thinking half the time.

I then sighed. "Well.. uh, about that DVD.."

I gulped the moment he looked back up at me, but I continued to speak. "I'll—be sure to watch it sometime soon. Or.. tonight, if you prefer. I'm.. I'm not sure when I'll watch it. I—" I continued to stammer, mustering up a bunch of nonsensical sentences as I tried desperately to speak to this man. But my face only seemed to get warmer as I rambled, and rambled.

Finally, Rick spoke. But what he said made me immediately stop stammering, and I couldn't help but be a little bit stunned by the sudden question.

"Do you want to watch it with me?"

"..wh—what?"

"Do you want to watch it with me?" He repeated again, calmly. I blinked a few times, my face still flushed with warmth—but I was a little too distracted by what he had just offered to really care about how red my face was. A bead of sweat formed on my forehead, and for a few moments, it felt like everything just.. stopped.

I then scratched the back of my head, and nervously smiled while glancing away. "Uhh.. sure. Do.. do you.. where do—" I was trying to ask if he wanted to go somewhere specific to watch it or just when he wanted to, but it was a little hard to even muster the words. He just stared at me again, before slowly moving his hand to his left side, and patting the floor. Immediately, I got the message.
