As much as it hurt me to stay away from Christian, I did. It was not time for me to reveal myself yet. If he knew I was here, he would not let me go, and it would change my plans for him.

If I had to admit it, being close to him brought all those memories of our life together to the surface. I took a deep breath and steeled myself as I pushed the memories away. It was better if I keep a level head and stay neutral. My mission was to make sure he was happy before I am able to move.

The first step was to help Christian let me go.

I noticed that Christian was preoccupied with the email I sent him; I knew that he would be. He was so engrossed that he did not even notice Barney entering the office. Barney looked smart and confident dressed in his dark suit; it complimented his fair skin and blonde hair.

"Sir..." Barney interrupted, clearing his throat.

Christian looked up with a smile that lit up his whole face. "Ah, Barney! What have you found?"

Now that was smile that I had not seen in awhile. Things were looking up. I couldn't help by smile back at him.

"Sir, I was able to find quite a bit on Ms. Reynolds." Barney held the file in front of him to read it. "Ms. Reynolds was born Sarah Emerson on June 6, 1982 in Settle. Parents are Martin Emerson and Sarah Thatcher. Martin was in the Army and the family moved around a lot, then moved back to Washington when Sarah was 16.

"Was she married?"

"Almost."

"Almost?" Christian's eyebrow shot up; he was definitely intrigued.

"On the day of the wedding, her fiancé was in a car accident."

I covered my mouth in shock. Oh my God! What a way to lose your fiancé like that on the day of their wedding. My heart went out to Sarah. That must have been horrible for her. I had no idea. No wonder she had the reaction she did about the photograph. It must have upset her to see that.

There was shock written all of Christian's face. "Why did she change her name?" he inquired, changing the subject.

"Ms. Reynolds changed her name as a tribute to her fiancé. His name was Jacob Reynolds."

What Sarah did, that was an admission of love to her fiancé. So beautiful, yet so bittersweet.

"From the accident, Ms. Reynolds received a settlement of $100,000." Barney continued on quickly. "She took a portion of that money and bought a book store called The Five and Dime right after his death five years ago. Before that she and her fiancé resided in Montesano. Their families still reside there."

What? Montesano? But how? Did I know her?

"Let me see that." Christian reached out so that Barney could hand the file over to him. "Montesano?" He asked curiously.

"Yes. I double checked on that sir - It is correct."

All these clues, clues that aren't mine...Is someone else helping me to put Christian and Sarah together? Or does it mean something else.

"Thank you, Barney." Christian said, effectively dismissing him.

Barney gave a quick nod and exited the office swiftly. The intercom beeped and Andrea's disembodied voice came over the line.

"Mr. Grey, Claude is here. He will be waiting in the gym for you."

Christian pushed the intercom button on the phone. "Thank you!" He took one last look at the file before pushing away from the desk and disappearing in the bathroom.
