*Marlhy's POV*

A week had passed since Dan and Phil's little quarrel, and I was to be the peacekeeper. They hadn't seen much of each other. Whenever Dan came round, I sent Phil either into the bedroom or somewhere else in the woods.

Dan had taken my words into consideration and he kept mentioning something about a plan of his. After he came to visit me every day, he would leave in a direction we usually didn't go, which I assumed was his 'plan'. He really seemed determined to get Phil back, and they weren't even dating in the first place. Maybe, I thought, they would be soon.

*Phil's POV*

What I believe was a Tuesday morning, Dan came around again. I left the treehouse as usual, and went back to the fort to just hang out. It got lonely at times, and I became eternally glad I had thought to bring my old iPod and earbuds with me. I spent my time making figures out of random natural materials I found around the place while dancing around to Muse and twenty one pilots, as usual.

My favourite song at the time happened to be Truce from the album Vessel. Not only was it a bomb ass song, but its lyrics kept me going even in the worst of times.

"I will fear the night again,

I hope I'm not my only friend

Stay alive, stay alive for me

You will die, but now your heart is free

Take pride in what is yours to die."

I sang along softly as I built a mini tent out of sticks and leaves. I was cut short before I could finish it, though, as Marlhy came rushing into the fort. I yanked my earbuds out of my ears, as she never seemed this frantic. Something must have conspired.

"PHIL!" she gasped, "Dan's got something to show you!"

I shrunk down at the mention of Dan. I had almost forgotten about him today. "I'm not going."

"Oh, yes you are!" she shrieked, pulling me along with her. I didn't put up a fight, because she couldn't be easily swayed. She dragged me towards a path I'd never thought to explore before, when she stopped. I hesitated, waiting for her to take me there, but she gestured for me to go. I sighed and continued walking.

I trudged through a path of trees towards the sound of trickling water. I must have been walking for a few minutes before I heard a voice singing sweetly.

It was Dan.

He was sitting against a tree and singing another twenty one pilots song, called Holding Onto You.

"You are surrounding all my surroundings,

Sounding down the mountain range of my left-side brain,

You are surrounding all my surroundings,

Twisting the kaleidoscope behind both of my eyes,

And I'll be holding onto you."

"Your voice is gorgeous," I spilled, making him whip around and go red in the face.

"S-Sorry," he stuttered, "didn't know you were there."

"Nah, it's okay." I said, not looking him in the eye. He stood and gestured for me to follow him. We walked further down the path for a while before we reached a tarp hung between two trees. Dan lifted the corner and waited for me to step through. We made eye contact, Dan staring into my eyes longingly for a moment, before I stepped through.
