*Dan's POV*
When I slowly awoke many hours later, I heard the hushed voices of Marlhy and Phil outside the closed bedroom door.
"I did a painkilling spell, and that's all I can do. It'll last a while."
"But his wounds won't heal right! What if he decides he feels better and goes out and hurts himself more?"
"We have to keep an eye on him."
"Will he ever get better?"
"I don't know."
I was hit with a sudden wave of exhaustion and fell back asleep.
*Phil's POV*
As much as I hoped he would, Dan wasn't going to get better. Broken bones needed some sort of support to heal correctly, and I didn't know what that support would be.
I thought of what would happen. Either Dan would turn out with some sort of handicap - unable to use the arm he'd broken and a rib bone grown wrong would be poking into some organ - or he'd be dead. These thoughts haunted me, so I stopped thinking them and tried to change the subject.
"Hey, Marlhy," I asked, "what do you like to eat?" A fitting question, as I was hungry.
"Well, I quite like seafood when I can get it, except I don't really have to eat anyway. I just eat because it's nice and seafood tastes good." she rambled.
"Huh?"
"What?"
"You don't have to eat?"
"Oh, yeah," she started, "fairies don't have to eat to sustain life."
This got me thinking. If fairies didn't have to eat to live, what other perks were there? After prying Marlhy for more benefits, I got that fairies couldn't be injured except for their wings, they could live on any kind of water even if it was dirty or saltwater, they didn't age past the young adult stage, and they couldn't die of natural causes.
"Marlhy?" I whispered, after a moment of thought.
"Yes?"
"Is there any way for a human to turn into a fairy?"
CLIFFHANGER OOOOOOOo
I'm going to try to introduce some more things about faeries because I kinda forgot about them whoops
I've also realized how messy this story is because there's no clear antagonist and just like ah
But I'm guessing all you people care about is Phan so it's no big deal, I'm not trying to pull an E. L. James and this is Wattpad so
