*Ava's POV*
At about noon the next day, I took Marlhy into my bedroom. I made sure to tell Chris to stay out, because I wanted to have a private conversation with her.
Finding her asleep on the floor yesterday was a little worrying. Fairies tend to be a bit more susceptible to uncomfortable situations (such as sleeping on hard surfaces) and so I was concerned something was wrong.
"Marlhy, why were you asleep on the floor?" I asked, sitting her down on the bed.
"Oh, I'm sorry about that," she smiled weakly, "I was just having an - um - off day. Yeah, an off day."
"I know that wasn't it, dear. Fairies never have off days."
She blushed. "Well, I'm different, that's all."
"Marlhy, please. Something's wrong." I pried.
"Can you please stop? I really don't want to talk about it." she snapped. Thankfully no one else was around - I think they were helping Dan with his daily laps.
"Darling, I just want what's best for you." I said, keeping my voice calm.
She looked conflicted and pained for a moment, as though she was debating whether to tell me something. Finally, a switch was flipped inside of her and she spilled.
"I like you, Ava."
*Marlhy's POV*
"I like you, Ava."
As soon as those words left my lips, there was no turning back. I had to keep going.
"I know it's soon, but I just can't help it. I fell asleep on the floor thinking about you and the fact that the pain of the floor wasn't even close to the pain in my heart. You've been on my mind constantly since I met you. Ava, you're so beautiful and kind and I've wanted you since the moment I first laid eyes on you. When you told us you were gay too, I felt so relieved, like I had a chance. But then you kept friendzoning me, and then you'd call me 'love' or 'dear' and I thought that meant something, and it's a constant cycle, and I want you to stop being confusing and tell me for sure and oh my god I'm rambling."
I felt hot and I knew I was probably bright red, but I tried my hardest to look straight into those warm caramel eyes and wait for her response.
Suddenly, Phil burst in the room carrying a vial of green liquid. "Here, Ava, I got your conversion pot-oh shit. Hi, Marlhy!" He then hurriedly left.
A wave of realization hit me. Conversion. Conversion. Conversion. The only conversion therapy available that I knew of which involved a green potion was faerie to fairy.
The word faerie rang in my head, echoing off the walls of my brain.
Before Ava could explain, I jumped up off the bed, furious. "You're a faerie. A goddamned A-E faerie is what you are. You're evil! You manipulated Phil! How could you betray us like that?"
"Marlhy, you're being ridiculous," she started, "why would I be converting if I were evil? You've heard how painful that therapy is!"
"Probably so you could be evil under the disguise of being a fairy, you bitch." I stated coldly, before storming out of the room.
"Marlhy, please!" Ava yelled after me. She tried to follow me, but I wasn't having it. I flew away to the grotto faster than she could find me.
ok im going to bed peace out
