Unknown to Olivia, Severus was recounting his own memories- those of Voldemort's obsessive search for the ancient being known as Phanes and her legendary lake (many years back).
The power hungry Wizard was nose deep in his search when Severus joined the Death Eater cause.

Voldemort's inability to find the being was driving him to the brink of madness. Were he to learn the source of all magic crossed at a certain intersection on Earth (making that location key to insurmountable power) and that it lay right under the Ames Mansion, which also coincidentally hid said lake he had been searching for- it would spur the Dark Wizard to marry the girl simply to gain access to Phanes and not be attacked by the blossom spores protecting the historic house of Merlin.
Merlin...He didn't want to think about that right now- his priority was solely Olivia. Severus thought wryly.
Were his Master to succeed he would be linked to the Ames line through marriage and spared the gruesome fate from entering the vicinity.
Every Mage of non Muggle decent grew up on tales of Merlin as a child and had a beguiling need to see the wonders contained within his home. Many stood on the outskirts of the mystical forest, where they could barely see the Mansion, as it was one of limited must sees on any Mage's bucket list (no matter what country they were from). Very few places received such high notoriety. For those that made the long harrowing trip, the weather had to be just right for them to see through the ominous fog shielding the place from view. Before long they would feel the unbearable force of unnaturalmagic which would force them to leave. Many simply came to feel said power from the earth on Merlin's land- legend saying it was akin to being in the man's presence himself were he alive today.
The mere thought of his Dark Lord acquiring such power made Severus uneasy. He had not thought it out loud or entertained such dangerous notions- keeping such things out of his mind the second they began to rise to the surface. Voldemort chose the most random moments to rifle through his head, he couldn't risk the chance he actually had something to look at for his Master. In the back of his mind however Snape had been feeling pangs of discomfort of late regarding his decision to be a Death Eater. He was beginning to see through the cracks in this Dark Lords persona as the initial wooing and honeymoon stage had quickly started to fade the moment the Dark Mark was on his skin.
