The parasite immediately let's go of the brain and dies. Maya pushes the white machine away and sits back, handing the red button back to Reznik. The said woman pats Maya's back" knew you had it in you Elfie" Reznik smiles before pressing a button to make the screen disappear. She walks over to the door causing Maya to follow her.
Kayla didn't stop walking, she had to find Maya, she had to find Elliot. she had managed to survive the night, something she never thought she would be doing. it was surprisingly easy for her to hide from the drones. 80 miles till Wright-Patterson, she couldn't stop now. she found the road, as much as she didn't want to go inside of the gas station, she knew she had to. she was low on water, and she was low on food. she walks around the store, looking for food and water that wasn't expired. after grabbing the things she needed, she walked for a while before finding a highway. she never once let her guard down as she walked. so many broken cars were on the road, glass scattered everywhere.
She carefully inspected the area. letting her eyes catch a burning cigarette. she steps on it, putting it out. she looks around the air for a bit before she sees a drone coming to fly over her" oh shit" she curses before a gunshot was heard. pain shot up her leg and she fell down. she scrambles to hide under a truck as it kept shooting at her. hyperventilating, she puts her hand to her leg, bringing it up for her to see blood. she moves onto her stomach, wiggling to move as she points her gun in front of her, ready to shoot anything. she stands up and limps to the side of the highway while still pointing at the sky. she stumbles on the grass before falling, before going unconscious.
" When I was a child, I spoke as a child" Colonel Vosch said, the kids were all standing in the uniform that they gave them. Elfie stood with Elliot at her side. " I thought and I reasoned as a child" Elfie just stood there, she payed attention every now and then. "But when I become a man, I put away childish things" Colonel Vosch continues. " Those words never meant more to me than they do right now, looking at all of you. our hope. our future. The best and brightest vision of who we are and what we're fighting for" Elfie knew who she was, and what she was fighting for. maybe it was childish for her to think like that. to think against the wise Colonel " our intelligence tells us the others are readying themselves for a final attack. the 5th wave " Elfie found that a bit strange on how they knew it, are they really that smart? " What form it will take, we do not know. if they are successful, there will be no more waves. no more conflicts. Humanity as we know it will be wiped out from the face of the earth. "
Elfie moves her head side to side, relieving some pain. taking a deep breath "Now, I'm going to tell you some things I know. This is our world; it is our home. They will not overrun it. They will not possess it." she knew this was it, she wasn't ready for it." so with whatever time we have left, you will learn to think, speak, move and fight like the soldiers you are. let the weight of our loss fuel you. let the weight of our dead embolden you. let the weight of our hope drive you to victory. Can you do that?" no one answered. just silence. Elfie's head started aching, so many things going through her mind. " Soldiers! can you do that!?" Colonel Vosch repeated, louder. "Sir! yes! Sir!" everyone yelled back, but not maya." Can you do that?" Colonel Vosch Repeated again" Sir! yes! sir!" again, she didn't speak." good" colonel Vosch says, turning around. Elfie knew this was it.
Kayla's dark brown eyes open, her chest flowing up and down with each breath she took, she looks around, seeing herself in nicely decorated room, it was dark though. pain shot up her leg. she remembered what happened. She looks to her side, seeing an IV machine is hooked onto her arm. she looks down to see her leg wrapped. footsteps were heard. she quickly pulls the blanket over her again and closed her eyes, hoping that whoever was coming will think that she's asleep. she hears the door slowly and quietly open. after a few moments went by. she felt the blanket being placed over her.
