Chapter 13: Heart On A Platter

At the Copeland Manor

It had only been one day since Mira called Zane "just an alter". And Zane was already letting Ryder have a terrible day because of that. Ryder and Zane had been switching in and out constantly for hours.

At the moment Ryder was trying to ignore Zane as much as he could. Ryder was pacing in the living room trying to hold Zane back.

"What's your deal", Zach asked entering the living room?

Ryder jumped, "Zach, y-you should go I-I don't wanna hurt you".

"Oh hush you can't do shit to me, what's the matter", Zach asked again?

"The same issue I always have", Ryder responded.

"Zane I presume, god that guy is really good at hunting but he's a pain in the ass", Zach said.

"You're not h-helping", Ryder said.

"Oh I know, if you want my advice...", Zach walked closer to Ryder, "I'd say just let him out and let him do his thing".

Zach walked away without another word. Leaving Ryder alone with Zane poking around in his mind. Ryder sat on the couch with a sigh and looked out the window, the dark sky looking back at him.

Ryder closed his eyes for a moment, and when he opened them again Zane was fronted. He still looked out at the sky, thinking back on his conversation with Mira.

Zane heard the click clacks of heals come from behind him, he didn't even bother to turn his head, "What is it Lynn"?

Lynn put a hand on her hip, "Your miserable, I can tell".

"Oh yeah..what gave that away", Zane asked sarcastically?

Lynn sighed softly before sitting next to Zane, "I've been where you are, being called names, being accused of things that never happened...".

Zane faced Lynn, "By the same bitch as well...".

"Not just the little vamp....many other people have looked at me the wrong way, so I look at them wrong right back...", Lynn put a hand on Zane's thigh, "Let me ask you a question Zane, why would you put your heart on a platter, just for someone to stab it"?

Zane was taken aback, "I...I don't know".

"Exactly, I don't know either...that makes us equal", Lynn stood back up and reached out her hand, "Let's go forget about our miserable lives for a while".

Zane put a slight smile on his face as he took her hand and stood up, "Where are we gonna go"?

Lynn smirked, "You'll see...".

"Hey have you seen Ry anywhere", Mira asked Jessa?

Jessa shook her head, "No I haven't, but maybe you should give him his space after yesterday".

"I know I'm just...I'm just worried about him", Mira said with a sigh.

Jessa put a hand on Mira's shoulder, "I'm sure he's fine, and if he's not he will be trust me, Zane never lashes out for long".

"I really hope you're right Jessa, I just want him to be safe, and after what I said to Zane yesterday I fear he isn't right now", Mira said.

"Y'know how about we look around the house and once we find him you two can talk", Jessa suggested?

Mira nodded, "Yeah, let's do that".

Mira and Jessa searched around the manor for Ryder, but there was no sign of him. Mira became worried, where could he have gone?
